Good question!

Ergonomically speaking, my favored handle shape is the M&F L7, Simpson M7, Elite7, etc. This type of long handle with bulb base is easy to hold even with wet fingers, and keeps the hand free of dripping lather.

Aesthetically speaking, my favorites are the M&F 2XL, Simpson CH2, etc.

My "favorite" changes repeatedly over time, but for right now I would say it is the Rooney 2XL.

My favourite brush handles are: Rooney Heritage. Emillion, Kent BK4 and Shavemac Beehive. They are ergonomically sound and aesthetically pleasing. I have several other handles that I like, but these are the best of the best.

Does anyone own a vintage Rooney 2XL?

I'm curious to know whether the shape has altered slightly through the years & various company ownership changes. I know some of our handle specs have been revised ever so slightly.

Cheers,

Mark

I would have to say this one at 60mm, but I should be getting one in a similar style at 65mm which might be a better overall fit:

This one is also working out very well and feels great in the hand at 70mm:

I have to agree with the M7/L7/E7/(Chief falls in here due to the hand holding portion being similar). It is just so natural and comfortable to use for everything.

Time will tell if I feel the same way about the Emillion.

I am also really enjoying this one at 70mm which I picked up, recently:

This is certainly becoming your 'signature' handle shape, celestino, based on your recent acquisitions and commissioned brush projects!

A beautiful and ergonomic shape ... Smile

I can't really say what my favorite handles are, but my UNfavorites are anything that are sharp and/or angular, such as many of the vintage EverReadys. While I love the feel of the untrimmed boar hair, I really dislike the sharp edges that some of those brushes have.

The Simpson M7 profile and most of those that are based off of it.

My personal favorite is the Elite7 which took absolutely zero effort on my part other than a simple suggestion to Bob and this beauty was created. I thank Bob for his skill and Simpson for creating the M7.

It will also be interesting to compare results from this thread to a similar one from a ways back...

Aesthetically I really like Beehives. My 2XL is very functional. Overall, the best blend of aesthetics and function is the AS2 but I pestered Lee for months to start making them several years ago. Based upon how popular they have gotten I'd have to say I'm not the only one.
