Rather than continue the hijack of the TSN LE thread, I thought it prudent to post a Chubby pic in a new thread.

Beautiful example of the CH2 Super 2-band, MaxP. It appears to be more bulb-shaped than what I've seen in terms of other 2-band examples of this iconic brush.

Strangely enough, mine doesn't say Super Badger, but actually says Silvertip Badger. Anyone know why? Doubt

Regards.

Andrew down in Austin let me borrow his Chubby 2 2-band last year. If I ever buy another badger brush, this will be the one.

When the Chubby 2 Synthetic goes on sale I will own one of those also.

Hi,

When you order with Mark custom made brush or LE, he writes since few months back "Silvertip" to acknowledge is special brush not the standard one.

They look really happy together!

I've thought of getting a CH3, but I fear it may be overkill... The CH2 is already so dense!

Seems only right to post a trio photo as well.
I am fortunate to have the 1 and 2. The CH3 is not mine it was on loan from a fine friend.

The tips are wonderfully soft. Not quite as soft as a Thater two band, though.

However the backbone in the Chubby makes it a superior brush to the Thater two band IMHO.

So I think the reason for the different engravings depends on when the brush was actually made. I was lucky enough to find this brush hiding out at a "Brick and Mortar" retailer in NYC...literally hidden, and one of only a few two bands left at any of the retailers here in NY...I believe Simpson(Mark) decided to stop selling two-band brushes to any retailer's, and I have never seen a retailer with a Manchurian either...This brush is in the older style box, as are all my Simpsons...I have twelve Simpson brushes all purchased @ brick & mortar retailers and every brush is in the older style box...No red boxes for me yet!...So this brush is likely around two years old or somewhere between...It's my understanding that two band brushes used to be sold under the Super Grade & even Best Grade(have seen two in person engraved Best)...So I think all direct purchases from Simpson are engraved "SilverTip" at least as of the past year...
Sincerely,
Bob

I think you've nailed it. At at minimum, I agree with your observations.

And, congratulations on such a wonderful find.

I am very interested in a Chubby 1 or 2 in super. I haven't decided on 2 or 3 band. I own several TGN Finest 2-bands and I'm thinking variety would be better.

Is the 3 band softer than the 2? How do they compare?

Do you recommend Ch1 or 2 for face lathering? Thanks!

Two Chubby 2s in two band: The first I had to send back due to an issue and is was promptly replaced with the second (that I actually like more)…
