Below a shot of my Chubby 3 in 2 Band paired with Le Pere Lucien shaving soap. This soap from a French artisan has really surprised me. Subtle scented soap that creates a wonderful slick and thick lather: MdC minus the scent Wink

German, just what is the scent of this? Can you describe it for us? Also, will you share the ingredient list?

Thanks!

Seems Cyril is looking for a vendor in the U.S. … we'll see if that works out...

I used this soap for the fourth time this morning and wholeheartedly agree with its performance. Extremely easy to lather and I cannot fault it. I put this soap easily ahead of MdC, especially when it comes to post shave feel. The very light scent is also a huge plus over the other French soap.

Absolutely none whatsoever. That is what I dislike about MdC and my reason for selling it.

I purchased 200gm tin from Jason over at http://www.mdcsoap.us/. Great person to work with. This is great stuff. Easy to lather, nice and slick and does not dry out and the post shave is nice and smooth.

It is one of the top 3 soaps I have ever used ... by a long shot. Glide, cushion and post shave are all "A+'s"

looks like its 2 for $50 now.

I purchased the 200gm tin as pictured above which is in a different tin container than the smaller tin Jason has on his site right now. The tin on the 200 gm is nice and thick and the label gives it a nice old school look. I paid $43 for the 200gm tin.

Gentlemen,
Everything said about Le Pere Lucien is spot on. I find the soap superb in every way. All the artisan soaps I have used through the years, except for Mike's Natural and Mama Bear, have disappointed to various degrees. Le Pere Lucien is a welcome surprise. As I continue to trim the soap and cream brands in the shave den through attrition — that is not stock up when they run out, or just relegate them to the shower — I will limit myself to only five soaps and one cream. The lineup up will be Martin de Candre, Le Pere Lucien, Czech & Speake, D.R. Harris Arlington and Klar Kabinett soaps and Xpec original cream. By then I hope Le Pere Lucien will be more readily available.

Obie, do you find Le Pere Lucien soap lasts as long as MdC? Do you need more product from the previous compared to the latter?
I have heard from a few folks that you go through much more of Le Pere Lucien than MdC. It would be good to validate these claims from anyone who has tried both.

LPL is definitely softer than MdC. Cyril recommended that I leave the lid off so that it could continue to cure and possibly firm or harden more. But in my experience it took about the same to make awesome lather.
