Two R7s x Shavemac flat tops:

From left to right: 20mm x 44mm Dark Knight, 22mm x 46mm Amboyna Burl.

The Seven is my favourite handle shape. I really like Rudy's take on the Seven design, he's made the style truly his own. The R7s are very ergonomic and just so comfortable in hand. The Dark Knight is greyish black with a metallic luminance. Hopefully my photos can do the Dark Knight some justice Wink

The flat tops are easy to use, just a more extreme version of a fan knot. They work beautifully, however if I were to do it again, I would probably bring down the loft on each brush by 2mm.

Shavemac D01 2 band goodness:

I've been wanting to try Shavemac's DO1 2 band, however there were several reports they were not just scrubby but also scratchy. I can report zero scratch for both brushes, they feel great. Soft tips but also with some scrub.

I like Rudy's attention to detail on the Amboyna Burl:

Thanks to Rudy and Bernd for making these beautiful brushes.

Congrats on the brushes, they look incredible! I have an RV AS3M made from Redwood Burl with a D01 2-band in fan shape and it is by far my favorite scrub brush. As you mentioned, Rudy's attention to detail is second to none and he makes true master pieces. My knot has no scratch and minimal scritch, and what is there I like.

I have never tried a flat top but have been seeing more of them, how do you like them compared to a fan? They have sparked my interest and realistically I'm probably a year out from buying one, but of course I say that now....

Enjoy your brushes, they are gorgeous! My next order from Rudy might have to be in the 7 shape Biggrin.

These brushes are lovely! I do like the proportions in terms of handle shape, as well as the chosen knots ... nicely done.

Amazing. I'm so tempted by these extreme flat top knots. Of course Rudy's work on the handles is superb as usual. Your picture shows the Dark Knight material well and makes me even more excited about the one heading my way soon.

Thanks for sharing these two lovely brushes with us. I hope you add them to Rudy's thread and the Customs Exhibit thread as well.

Yes. While waiting for that special knot, I'm going to have Rudy make me an R7 with a Muhle 25mm synthetic knot.

I have an RV Tulip in Butterscotch which is a gorgeous brush. I bought it used, and it is nice having brushes hand-made by a craftsman.

Just one point I want to share here, and this would my personal recommendation for the knot size. The best sizes for this shape would be a 18-22 mm knot, with the sweet spot at 20 mm. That sounds small, but believe me you will have a lot of hair in your face. I had once one made on request with a 24 mm knot and the customer told me it was totally uncomfortable to shave with due to the humongous size of the knot. For the loft, I always recommend twice the knot size, also a knot of 20 mm would be fine with a loft of 40mm.
