I like Rudy's R7 handle and decided to finally try a synthetic. This brush has the Muhle 25mm synthetic knot.

I normally prefer ivory handles, but the color of this resin caught my attention and I decided to go with it.

I gave some thought to the loft. I like knots with a diameter of 26-28mm set at a loft of 50mm. I know synthetics need a little more loft, and Muhle sets their 25mm synthetics at a 60mm loft. However, it seems some of you guys have been setting the synthetics to lower lofts and getting good results. I also noted that the FS Pur Tech synthetics with a 26-28mm diameter are being set below 55mm and getting good reviews. Finally, I saw that the upcoming Simpson synthetic will have dimensions similar to a Chubby 2. All these factors led me to believe I could set this knot lower. I didn't want to go as low as 50mm, since I don't know the characteristics of these synthetics, so I settled for a loft of 53mm.

As usual, Rudy was great to deal with and I'm sure the actual brush will be even nicer than his photograph.

53 mm should be a very effective loft setting. The brush looks great. Enjoy it!

Ricardo, that's an awesome brush. We're all keenly looking forward to your thoughts on how it performs with the lower loft. I used the Muhle classic STF 25mm this morning, and the regular 60mm loft makes it almost too large.
