Looks like you will be having some fun ahead. The Adoration will be a beauty when you get it finished.

On that Fuller you might want to take a look at the same handle I did some time ago. Note that many of the Fuller brushes, the glue tends to remelt when drilling and can be messy to get the glue out.

Ha ha, it will take months.

Thank you friend.
The Adoration is almost perfect. No bumps or scratches. With perfectly painted letters. I do not think it was ever used. The handle color is spectacular. I had to pay a lot of money, because I had some competition at the auction, but I knew that I loved it as soon as I saw it. Few brushes like that.

I'm preparing for my first restorations now. Holding my breath, I cut the knots out on 2 of the 3, and have 1 left for tomorrow. Then comes the rest of the work before I get the knots. Only shaved the skin off of one knuckle with the trusty K Bar. These are the first 2, I gotta upload the other image (hope I did this correctly).[Image: Tk6pJRR.jpg]

Sorry! I don't know how to size this beastly photo!

Thanks my friends by your kind comments! I suffer the brush-restoration virus. The only treatment is buying more brushes.

BUT

Men, stop buying brushes to restore! You are skyrocketing the prices! Every day I should pay more for them! Restoring brushes is a boring activity, not worth the money nor the time. Results are horrible. Ugly brushes, bad knots, arrrggg! Please do not waste your time nor your efforts. Watch the TV. Go to football. Let the brushes for me.

Very nice brushes, friend! No fear!

Damn, you're the one that won the Adoration (if the auction you're speaking of was on The Bay). lol If so. . .I wanted it so bad I could taste it. Biggrin

The lower portion of the handle is swirled Catalin or should be. The original color. . .yellow, before it developed the butterscotch patina.

I have one, but it has a white upper. Here's a picture of the swirling pattern behind the butterscotch patina.

To confirm, just hold the lower portion of the handle to the light.

Now that sure is pretty. I will restore a brush one day, just don't have the time or inclination yet. The way these handle prices are going makes me want to get one now for the future!

Sure was. lol

I have two Adoration brushes. The first restore has a black top and clear, Acrylic lower. The Acrylic lower brush I've restored - I shoved a TGN 28mm Silvertip 2-Band Finest in it.

[Image: Adorationpolishedknotready1_zps989c4990.jpg]

The other handle is complete, but I'm still trying to decided on a knot to put in it. It is also slightly smaller than the Acrylic handle. It will take a 25mm knot.

Adoration made beautiful handles! Well balanced, hefty, and a joy to use.

Yep, awesome stuff.

Two options. One, keep the butterscotch patina. Two, sand it down to reveal the original, yellow swirl pattern. The original, yellow swirl pattern is very light. . .once the butterscotch patina is removed.

* Wow, Jeff, that is one of the most beautiful brush handles I have seen! If you ever decide to sell it, please, let me know as it will go so very well with my All-Amber! Biggrin

The handle was in very good condition when I purchased it. But there were some minor blemishes and surface scratches, causing the Acrylic to be a little cloudy.

I used 600, 800, 1000, 1500, 2000, and 3000 wet dry sandpaper on the Acrylic portion. For the base, I used 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1500, 2000, and 3000. For the polishing. . .3M Rubbing Compound (03900), followed by Meguiars PlastX. Crystal clear now.
