Hello all. I'm new here and have recently gotten back into traditional wet shaving after abandoning it for a few years, mainly due to time constraints and the stresses of veterinary school. I first tried wet shaving about 4 or 5 years ago during my undergrad days to save money with shaving expenses, then I fell in love with it. I started with a Weishi DE razor and the "Premium Shave Set" commonly found in drug stores. After the butterfly mechanism on that razor broke, I got a Parker 98R which I have been using on occasion since and haven't been super thrilled with, but it got the job done. Recently, I've gotten fed up with the irritation, razor burn, and unsatisfactory shaves I've been getting using my Fusion or electric razor so I threw them in the back of the drawer and decided to get back to wet shaving with a DE razor and quality shaving products, so here's my setup right now:

A new Merkur 34C, Parker 100% black badger brush, Proraso white "sensitive skin" pre-shave balm, shave soap, and post-shave balm, a variety of blades (Shark, Derby, Wilkinson Sword, Lord, Bic, Kai, Feather, PolSilver super iridium, Merkur)

I'm excited about my new shaving supplies and I'm definitely glad to be back getting some of the best shaves I've had without all the irritation and frustration I experienced with the "modern" shaving methods.

So I guess I'll say a little bit about myself.

I'm currently a 4th year veterinary student. I have 2 freshwater planted aquariums that I maintain as a hobby. As far as pets go, my best friend is my retired racing greyhound.

I enjoy playing racquetball in my free time (what little I might have) and golf when I have time and/or money and the weather cooperates. As far as collegiate allegiances go, I am first and foremost a Mississippi State fan but secondarily an Auburn fan.

Welcome to The Shave Nook and enjoy your stay. Smile

You have some very nice hardware and software. Like you, I am a fan of the "white tub" Proraso shave soap.
