I've been interested in trying out bar soaps again after using a body wash for many years. I'm looking for some help in identifying some of the better artisan soap makers for body soaps. They don't have to make shave soap either, I just know mostly shave soap makers. If you have another suggestion feel free to vote other and write in suggestion in a reply. The top qualities I am looking for in a body soap are skin care/moisturizing, lathering ability, rinses clean and scents. Which are your favorites with these categories in mind. I am not including some of the major soap makers such as MWF or Musgo Real in this list. Thanks for your help!

Stirling. $3 a bar, works great, many interesting scents. Washed with it in the shower this morning (Sharp Dressed Man), and I keep it at my hand wash station.

Stirling lets me enjoy scented natural soaps in place of all my household soaps, without feeling like I'm breaking the bank and paying an unsustainable amount.

I've only tried Mystic Waters and Prairie Creations, both smelled wonderful but were fairly lousy at lathering, for me anyway and I ended up using 3x the soap. I can take a bar of Yardley, Pre de Provence, or South of France and have mounds of suds.

Mystic Water - multiple scents, and I especially like the shea butter formulations.

Yes, I recently finished a bar of the Marrakesh soap ... a very good soap overall, and the sea salt component is different. I found the soap to be a touch more exfoliating, and to lather a little differently. I prefer the 'regular' varietals for my skin, but of course YMMV.

The salt soaps lather a bit differently than the others, but they are popular and can be used as facial soaps as well as body soaps. They're not for the hair, though. When they're new, they're slow to lather at first, unless you use them with a nylon bath pouf. When they're "broken in" then they lather well between the hands. They aren't scratchy because the salt dissolves at the same rate as the soap does. The Dead Sea Mud is a bit more exfoliating because it's got a lot of the Dead Sea mud in it, and the Pink Sands is very rough because of the pumice.

I've tried many of these and Stirling really stands out. Lather, scent and how my skin feels after the shower, this soap is great in every dimension. That said there are many good choices in your list.

If you want to try a shampoo bar I find QCS works the best for me.

Of the 3-4 RazorRock bars that I've tried they all seem to perform well. Nice scent, quick to lather, and they last fairly well. Cost was important as well and $2.99 a bar wasn't too hard to swallow.

Dragonfly Cottage (Local artisan to western MA) makes some spectacular vegan all natural soaps with no fragrance oils and only natural scents and ingredients

Art of shaving as some really great soap too, but it's really expensive compared to most artisans
