Hi, all. I've come over from the other shaving forums on the encouragement from Phil, and am very glad I did. What a fresh, dynamic site this is, with some old names I'm familiar with, and new names I hope to get to know better. The experience level of the members here is quite impressive, and though I've been around the block, I hope to get clued in even more from the learned fellows within.

I've been wetshaving for six years, and in that time I've used many of the popular brands of shave goods: Simpsons, Shavemac, Savile Row, Kent, and a Rudy Vey custom; classic Gillette and Schick DE's; Schick injectors; the Three T's plus other software. The last couple years the fever has been dampened through forces beyond my control, but now it has returned with renewed passion.

Currently, I'm slowly ramping up my acquisitions. Rather than tell you what I have, since everything is in flux, I'll mention what I'm looking for and hope to settle on (finally):

For brushes, I'd love to get an M&F Chief, a Grosvenor LE 2-band mod from Simpsons, another in a long line of Savile Rows, and hopefully a synthetic that fulfills its promise (to me).

Razors: I was big-time into injectors before the NOS blade supply dried up, so am now looking for a mild-ish DE that will work on sensitive skin. Candidates so far are the Merkur Progress, and one of the stainless steel models.

Creams, Soaps & Aftershaves: The one cream I really like is the T&H Rose. I currently favor soft Italian soaps, but since P.160 is no more, I'm trying out various RazoRock varieties. If it wasn't so expensive, I'd get another bottle of the Harris Pink splash because I'm into subtle scents -- the only exception being Bay Rum and Bay Rum with Lime.

So, I hope as time goes by to be able to contribute to the knowledge base here, and have no question that I will learn a lot from all of you. I look forward to seeing you all around campus.

Regards,

Ron,

Thanks for joining. I saw you mention that you may want to look at a stainless razor. I have a ikon that's very smooth, and Phil has it on sale as the Shavecraft 101 model for <$60.

Thanks, guys. What a nice welcome. Much appreciated.

Chris, the Shavecraft is indeed one of the razors I'm considering, along with the Weber. At least that's my starting point.
