My second Rubberset 400-3

Hello friends. On this restoration I am going to post pictures along the months the restoration process lasts. Step by step.
This brush is my second Rubberset 400-3.

Here the pics before cleaning, when I received it.

Well, here we go. Starting the work. After cutting the knot, I couldn't unscrew the ferrule even with hot water. Then, drilling it.

After drilling, hot water did the job, A couple baths just the ferrule, 80ºC water, and the ferrule was free to unscrew. Then, cleaning all the handle with care. A bit of metal polish.

And is is ready to travel next home. My friend Mac will do the mirror finish.

Can't wait to see the finished product. What type of hair are you going to use, boar or badger?

Well, I have another polished by my friend Proyet, and this one will be polished by my other friend Mac. Two good friends.

Oh, Johnny, my friend. Not boar. It will have a badger knot. I'm thinking on a professional hand-tied knot for this one, maybe Silvertip, at 48-50 mm? What do you think?

I think that would be about right depending on the knot size. You say you have another one of these, what hair, knot, and loft did you use in that one?

The hole is 25 mm. Then a 24 mm knot is the most suitable.
The other I have, you can see here http://shavenook.com/thread-rubberset-40...-dulcamara
It has a TGN Finest Badger 24x49.5 mm installed by myself. Look all the pics of the thread and you will see the pics after bloom.

Beautiful. In that case a silvertip set at about 48mm would be perfect.

By the way, Johnny, what happened to your boars? You were a boar brush fan! Why you sold them?
