It's almost comical how unlucky I have been with the Simpson brush line. After selling my Duke 3, I picked up the world renown Chubby 2 in Super 3-Band Badger. It is one heck of a brush!! I've had it now for a couple weeks and have been thoroughly enjoying its pillow soft and extraordinarily dense knot. It scrubs like no other brush I've encountered and whips up some mean lather.

Then today happened. I went and picked it up off my countertop and something felt off. I turned the brush around and to my horror, this appeared out of nowhere:

Devastated is a word I'd use to describe my emotions. I am at a loss of words and can't afford to spend anymore money on a replacement. I saved for about a month afford this beauty and I know you can't exchange a used product. Do I have any options? I tried to go ahead and use it anyway. I began loading it and after one loss hair, I stopped.

When I first received the brush, I noticed what I thought was a minor scratch in the handle. I didn't think much of it as it really didn't look like anything. I was fine with a minor imperfection within the handmade masterpiece.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I use luke warm water to soak it and don't abuse it in anyway. What did I do wrong and is there anyone with experience repairing a brush handle?

Simpsons is very good to deal with. I would expect them to make it right. If you haven't reached out to the retailer you bought it from yet.

Maybe they will not exchange the brush, but perhaps they will transplant the knot to a new handle.

That would make me sick.

Yup, definitely contact Simpsons. Tell them the truth and explain the situation. Ask for a remedy.

It might cost you a few dollars, but I doubt it will cost a new brush.

Let us know how you make out.

Man oh Man I hate seeing something like that/this...I have never seen anything like that happen to a handle...let alone a Simpson anything(clasics to currents of course) Sad I'd be extremely upset too, I mean we all pay solid amounts of money for brushes like yours, and I myself expect/hope for all of mine to last a long time, that's for sure...But I also know "ish" happens, in this case terrible ish Huh...I think WCS is very reputable and should be able to help/solve your problem...If not you can always see what Mark W. at Simpson can do...knot exchange into new handle makes sense to me...I wish you the best and if all else fails I'd have one of the awesome brush handle makers on this forum put that knot into a custom handle...Be optimistic I hope you find a solution Angel

Thanks for the support guys. It was my first brush I spent over $30 on and as you all know... It's a lot more than that.

I certainly didn't drop it and I keep the collection out of harms way. I asked my family and no one knows anything. I don't think they'd lie to me.

Man what a gigantic bummer. Hopefully someone will help me out but I don't have a good feeling about it.

So sorry to hear this, I would be bummed too. Did you buy it used or new? Something tells me that little scratch you noted was the beginnings of what you have now. I sure hope you get things resolved one way or another. We all know these gorgeous Chubby's aren't cheap.

Yes, get it replaced immediately. I and some others have faced similar issues in the past specifically with Chubby's.

I wouldn't worry too much.

Now the question is... Should I try and pay the difference for a 2 band? I wonder if that's even possible Smile

Should I get a Duke 3 while I'm at it? My fiancé is gonna kill me!

Amazing is indeed the right choice of words. I've never had a problem with any of my Simpson brushes. However, it's great to deal with a manufacturer knowing that if you have a problem you can communicate with a principal and get this level of customer service.
