I have some NOS Coates Sandalwood and enjoy the subtle, warm scent. I'm thinking of stocking up on that, but am also interested in other sandalwoods. I don't care for Taylor (apparently scented like their cologne), but am thinking of Trumper Sandalwood. How does that scent compare to Coates? Any other recommendations?

* Mystic Water Mysore Sandalwood
* Petal Pushers Sandalwood

Both very lovely sandalwood scents and great soaps.
Good luck.

If you're talking about hard shaving soaps, I can highly recommend both the vintage Crabtree & Evelyn Mysore Sandalwood and the Creed Original Santal.

I'll recommend you my favourite Sandalwood scented shaving product, but it's neither a shaving soap or cream, it's a pre/post product: Geo F. Trumper Skin Food Sandalwood.

I'm not a huge fan, but Crabtree & Evelyn have an entire Sandalwood shaving range. I owned the shaving soap and EdT, although they worked as they should I never warmed to the strong fragrance.

As a side note I purchased my wife a hand held folding fan made from Sandalwood from a European Spa on the island of Bali. The gentle Sandalwood fragranced breeze it provides is absolutely heavenly...

The only sandalwood soap I have is Taylor of Old Bond Street both in the cream (tub) and the hard soap (refill) they both smell fabulous to me and both perform very very well in lather and cushioning both are very slick also. The smell to me (subjective) is very light and earthy as well as manly not frissy or perfumed.

I'm quite fond of the Simpson's cream I received as a sample with an LE brush I ordered directly from Mark. A little on the tip of a soft brush creates tons of lather.

My vote for the mildest sandalwood I've tried is Proraso red. It seems that many sandalwood devotees dislike it for being too subtle, but that's what I like about it. The new D. R. Harris sandalwood is really lovely - the cream shaves great.
