Imported from South Africa we now have Williams Shave Stick. Only available at http://www.shaveabuck.com

Soap has explosive lather and a nice rose scent. Comes with a blue re-useable plastic carrier as well.

The price is a bit high due to shipping and inflation in South Africa but I am sure you will enjoy the product just the same.[Image: O4IjCR5.jpg]

Wow, Joe - I assume it's related to the famous (and often criticized) Williams puck? I see it has its own formulation overseas - so what about it's skin conditioning properties?

So far I am pleased. I will defer to our resident Williams experts as to the relationship.

I do believe they are related and perhaps this formula is as close to the original that is still out there. Please correct me when I am wrong that Williams was made in many countries over the years. I guess no one truly owns the name or brand beyond the borders of the country that markets it at this point.

Does Combe own the European Tubed cream line...there is even a tubed South American line.

I have heard the tubed williams lather creams are pretty great... any chance you will get some of those?

I used a tube of Williams Ice Blue Shave Cream when I was recently in Rosario, Argentina. It faintly smelled of the American Favorite with a strong Citrus note but had some cool undertones. I was at the local Farmacia and was stunned to see a tube of crema de Afeitar with English on it...unfortunately in my rush to take an earlier flight I left it behind.

I'm intrigued to see what this Williams Stick is like!

I have had the Williams tube before but there is little interest these days in exotic products. The boards are all about a few brands and domestic artisan products. The hobby of collecting and trying these seems to be a thing of the past.

I would try Williams in a tube all day long if I could find it

Now, look at that! Isn't that interesting!
I had no idea that was still being made and in a stick, to boot! Biggrin

If this is anything like the vintage Williams stick, we're in for a treat.

Some of the reviews coming through are pointing to this being extremely close to the original Williams formula.

Part of the reason I ordered from shaveabuck was because I wanted to use something I'd never seen before. I think I'll feature those unusual products in my shaves next week. Can't wait to try nuka and the rose of Bulgaria.

Picked a couple of sticks up in SA a few years ago and have been happy with the performance of those sticks. Have an old Williams stick that lathers well and the SA Williams sticks seem very close. The SA sticks beat the living daylights out of using the current Williams puck IMHO.

agreed --- it makes the modern iteration of Williams on the shelves of US Drug stores loook very inferior --- the SA Williams Shave Stick is one of the best kept secrets in wet shaving right now --- explosive lather every time I use it!
