For some strange reason, I have never "gotten into" AS. Generally used witch hazel/glycerin. I picked up some Aqua Velva Ice Blue when shopping the other day, and I think I have found a new addiction to add to my addiction (if that makes sense :>) I can only imagine the endless possibilities of great products out there, but I am a total noob in that area. Can someone give me some good recommendations. I have dry skin, especially in winter, and while I love the menthol cooling of this one, I would not have a problem using somehting w/out the cooling. I am big on scents, and I love spicy and/or citrus. Help a Noob!

With dry skin, you might want to consider balms rather than splash aftershaves.

I love after shaves, and I too discovered how much I like them in a "second wave" after soaps, etc. I wouldn't worry too much about the "drying." I think a quality aftershave does not do that. Follow them up with a moisturizer, a few minutes later after you've enjoyed to rush.

For the drugstore cheapies like Aqua Velva, I like Pinaud Clubman and Skin Bracer.

One of the greats, and my favorites, is Proraso Green. Very mild and soothing on the face, too.

I still want to try Speick and some more Myrsols. There are many others.

+1 for Krampert's, both the Bay Rum and the Frostbite!

For a change of pace, you might try the Barbon and Figaro from Hungary. They are inexpensive and both have nice scents. You can get each of them with their matching shave cream for just under $10 at Shaveabuck.com.

Thanks for the replies and suggestions. I think I'll try Kramperts first based on your recommendations. After that, I have so many choices. I generally don't stay with the same thing very long because I like to try new things.

Is say Captains Choice Cat o Nine Tails (more citrusy) than the regular bay rum, followed by a simple balm, like Proraso.

This is my personal line up and it works for me. I have dry areas around my face, and they get worse in winter...and this works.

But definitely look for a good balm, as that will be key to solving the dryness.

Krampert's is my first choice too Smile it really is as good as people make it sound.

Honestly for face care, After Krampert's it's Lucky Tiger Face tonic or Thayers WH. For me.

But for scent it would be Alt Innsbruck .

Well I ordered Kramperts Finest-Not a big fan at all of it OOB. But I must say, I really like the scent a few minutes after I splash it on. It was great customer service, and i will use in my rotation....well that is until I can get some more AS so that I could actually rotate Biggrin I can't wait to stock up my arsenal.
