just an fyi, IKEA sell the same bowls in varying sizes and shapes. easy to get hold of and a lot cheaper too if you are worried about price.

The Aesop bowl is beautiful ... I looked into getting one directly from the Aesop site, but the shipping is somewhat pricy, considering the price of the bowl.

Good luck, Steve ... you are no more or less crazy than the rest of us ... Biggrin

I looked at Aesop US site, it comes to $36 and change. I am not paying that for a bowl that will never be used! Biggrin
I'll take a look at IKEA, thanks.

If you find the Ikea one and think it's the same could you shoot me the link?

I love the look of that bowl as well, but I am with you. Too costly for something I will seldom use.

I didn't realize the AESOP bowl was to be used. I just thought it was a backdrop for the great pics. Tongue

The Aesop bowl is very sturdy, has a brushed appearance and screams quality, worth the investment IMO. I wasn't sure that I'd actually use it, but I do now for almost every shave. I didn't think I could improve on my lather, but this bowl proved me wrong...

I guess we should move this thread, it turned out to be a discussion instead of sale Wink

the IKEA bowl is stainless steel and sturdy aswell. they come in a couple of different shapes and sizes. not sure if it actually improves my lather but its does the job brilliantly.

from the pictures the AESOP bowl looks to be of slightly 'thicker' steel than my ikea one but its hard to tell.

Given the spirited nature of discussion here, and some interesting posts/links shared regarding bowls for shaving in general, I am moving the thread to the 'Scuttles Mugs & Bowls' area and modifying the title.

Good luck in your quest for an optimal steel bowl, Steve! Biggrin

+1 for the ikea bowl, i got the smaller one works well.
but sometimes an enthusiastic lather can creep over the edge Wink

just catch it and return to bowl and lather away
