Can someone point me to someone who refinishes Cobra Classic razors in Black Chrome or Black Nickel please....I used to have a lot of golf clubs refinished in satin, black nickel, and am wondering if anyone does it with razors.

Best,

Jason

Another vote for Dave Glynn. He currently has my Cobra and is in the process of re-plating it in Black Chrome. He did my Gold Cobra too.

What's the turn around time for a replating job?

Dave has all prices listed on his website, see HERE.

But I've also included them below:

Safety Razor Replating Services

Bright Nickel - This is the original finish that was applied to most razors prior to about 1980:
£25 ($39)

Silver – Applied over Nickel for Durability:

£25 for the Nickel and £10 for the Silver
£35 in total ($55)

Gold – Applied over Nickel for Durability:

£25 for the Nickel and £15 for the Gold
£40 in total ($62)

Rhodium – Applied over Nickel for Durability:

£25 for the Nickel and £35 for the Rhodium
£60 in total ($95)

Chrome – Applied over Nickel:

£25 for the Nickel and £15 for the Chrome
£40 in total ($62)

Black Chrome – Applied over Nickel:

£25 for the Nickel and £15 for the Black Chrome
£40 in total ($62)

The above prices include the stripping of original plating, initial polishing and final polishing after plating. Adjustable razors also include painting in of black numbers using a durable enamel paint.

I also carry out any adjustments to alignment and operation of the razor prior or during plating.

Prices also depend on the cost of the plating chemicals - these vary with metal prices in general, especially Rhodium

(Postage is charged at cost)

Razors will only be returned to you using Signed For (Recorded Delivery) as I cannot be held responsible for non-delivery otherwise.

Luke, it varies. A lot of the time (for me living in Australia) is taken up with postage. On average about 6 weeks including postage to and from Australia, so I'd estimate anywhere between 4 to 8 weeks and probably much sooner if you reside in the UK, but if you email Dave I'm sure he can be more specific, see HERE.

Dave also does adjustments. The Cobra that he currently has from me had a latch that was very tight due to being few millimetres over length.

I'm really enjoying my gold plated Cobra and I can't wait to take delivery of the black Chrome version. If I manage to get my hands on another, I'll have Dave re-plate it in rose gold.

Can't wait to see it !!! Thanks for all the info Ben!

I wonder how one of these would look with a brushed, satin finish. Like the look of satin golf irons/ wedges.
