So I took a Cobra in on a trade deal and the top of the handle had some minor scratching on it... So I got this idea to "satinize" it, borrowing from my days in golf club repair and custom wedge grinding. We used to use a several step process and varying grits of steel wool, high grit sand paper and buffing wheels and apply a satin/ brushed finish to high gloss chrome irons, mainly to reduce glare when a player looked down to strike the ball.

Well ... I got my old golf tools out and went to working on this same kind of brushes finish on my Cobra Classic.

It is about 90% there --- but very pleased with it so far.

Hope you enjoy the pics --- will post more (and better) later this evening.

Best,

Jason

Very nice, Jason ... the glossy finish of the stock handle is indeed prone to annoying small scratches ...

... think I'll get funny looks if I take my Cobra to my local golf pro shop?! Biggrin

You could do it Ravi with some 400 grit, 600 grit, 000 steel wool and a 220 sanding sponge --- that is what got this one to where it is at.

I am not a fan of shiny chrome --- always had brushed finished on any metal items I have owned or used --- but to each his own ... Il probably follow you Ben and end up with a Black, Gold, Rose Gold and whatever else we can figure out! Smile

I think a satin finish Cobra is a great idea and I'm looking forward to further pics of your efforts.

I'm predicting the Cobra 2 will be sporting a different skin (not the shiny nickel we are all accustomed to)...

I hope you are right Ben. Satin finish with a new blade loading system would be nice. Classic will probably bump up the price yet again.
