And Thiers Issard Silvertip Extra Dense in Genuine Horn...

Both have very soft tips and good backbone... the TI rivals a M7 GYLE in density...

More to report when tested ....

I know it's tough to beat the modern resins for their looks, but you just can't beat a natural horn handle IMHO. That TI is a stunner. Great brushes, German.

First face lather today with the E3 in Tortoise.

I do not know for sure, if the silvertip in this brush is dressed/selected any different than regular Super from Simpson. However, compared to Simpson Super I own(ed) - Chubby 1, Duke 3, GYLE - this E3 has a softer face feel.

The tips are not as soft as Thaeter 3 Band or shavemac's regular silver tip (my benchmarks for 3 Band softness) but come close. There is absolutely no scritch but a gentle scrub. This maybe the goldilocks for some who do not like Thaeter "pillow softness".

The knot has just the right density. I used MdC today and that combo really went very well.

Below some pics - also together with the 2 Band brother...

Enjoy!

They are no longer sold by T&H but another web site - presumably to sell out old inventory at lower prices. Look at silvertipshave.com

This is concerning I agree...
But to balance it out I ordered a beehive 2 band from Lee that supposedly has "gel soft" tips... Biggrin

I agree. Goldilocks is an apt description for this brush.

I have the same E3 and I can confirm your report.
It's a beautiful brush, and definitely in the goldilocks department!
