I found nibs.com good to look at. There is also the fountain pen hospital.

My favorites are Goulet Pens and Jet Pens. Goulet Pens is owned by a very nice couple and they have amazing customer service and lots of nice help videos.

In no particular order here are businesses that I have dealt with and found very reliable, as well as a few chat sites that are very helpful. I have probably done more business with The Goulet Pen Company than any other and highly recommend them.

The Fountain Pen Hospital: http://www.fountainpenhospital.com/

Fahrney's Pens: http://www.fahrneyspens.com/

Gold Spot: http://www.goldspot.com/

I Sell Pens: http://www.isellpens.com/Default.asp

The Goulet Pen Company: http://gouletpens.com/

Jet Pens (a strong emphasis on Japanese products): http://www.jetpens.com/

For general information try...

The Fountain Pen Network: http://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/

Fountain Pen Geeks: http://fpgeeks.com/

Fountain Pen Geeks Forum: http://fpgeeks.com/forum/

To add to the list:

http://www.coloradopen.com/ My first fountain pen was purchased from here by my daughter as a gift for me.

http://www.franklin-christoph.com/ I love their pens and leather goods. They make great pens at great prices. Excellent customer service. Their pen cases are excellent quality and priced well below others.

http://www.paradisepen.com/ They have brick and mortar stores. Their prices are almost always full retail. Still we got such excellent service at the Burlington MA store that we willingly paid the difference over online retailers. They will let you dip and test any pen in the place.

http://www.penboutique.com/ Can't speak directly about them. Though they quoted me the best price on a Montblanc. But I test dipped it at Paradise pens and did not like it so I went with another pen purchased at Paradise Pen.

http://www.xfountainpens.com/default.asp We have purchased quite a few of their cheap pens as well as ink samples and nibs. Excellent prices. Stellar customer service.

Have also ordered from Goulet and Jetpens and can vouch for them. Others have provide the links.

Phil

I realise I'm late to the party but still would like to add one that hasn't been suggested just in case someone is still in need of help: http://www.executivepensdirect.com/fountain-pens

That's the best site I've used in terms of buying the pens but there's better if you're wanting information such as the Fountain Pen Network forum (as already suggested).
