After my great experience with the Maggard MR3 (or Matador "El Gordo") safety razor , I had to get this new Matador "El Caballero" and gentlemen , what a great , good looking razor is.

I dont want to bore you with a bunch on blah , blah , blah regarding this razor : for 19,99 dollars is truly a bargain , shaves like the best ones I have (Edwin Jagger/Muhle/Merkur) and its simply eye candy due to its knurling and design.

If you haven't tried the Matador "El Gordo" , I can honestly tell you that shaves smoothly like an old Gillette Super Speed but as effective as a Merkur 34C HD. I don't have a coarse beard , I must say too , but the shaves with this razor last me for over 6 or 7 hours of a BBS , which is a lot , and my skin doesn't suffers an "aggression" like when using other DE razors. No , with this razor , everything is smooth : the shave and the looks.

Its knurling reminds me of the old Gillette Aristocrat and its finishing is quiet decent for its price.Again , this razor is 19,99 dollars. And from the Razor Blades and More page , this is the info about what materials are involved in making this razor :
Quote:The razor is made out of brass and chrome plated. The heads of these razors are chrome plated cast zinc alloy.

The razor is quiet short , so if you have NBA player hands , maybe this is not the one for you.I don't have those kind of bin hands , so I find it perfect , both in balance and weight.

The razor weights 96 g :

While the Maggard MR3 o Matador "El Gordo" weights one gram less , 95 :

And you can see how beautiful is this razor compared to the other one :

While some of its finishing could be improved , but again , we are talking about 20 bucks for a razor , I find it not only perfect for somebody who wants to enjoy an introductory DE razor and not spend too much money on it , but also if you are looking for a travel razor (with a lot of style !) , for who is looking for a smooth , very effective shaver , or just another good looking razor to add to the collection.

Again for 20 dollars , you cant go wrong with this El Matador "Caballero".

Matador "El Caballero" double edge safety razor.

Thank you Teiste for the review and photos.
Mine is in transit. Should be a nice change of pace from the R41.

Great review and pics Mi Amigo Teiste!
I have the Maggard MR3 which is similar to the Matador and is a FANTASTIC razor...This little guy has beat out my Mergress as my go to razor. Sure I have others in my rotation, Ikon's, Muhle, etc...but this one hits my "sweet spot" with my shaving routine.

Used mine today for the first time. Very smooth easy shaver. Quite effective considering how smooth it is. Similar to my Fatboy on 7. Only issue is that the blade alignment requires some manual fiddling to get it right. Small issue for a $20.00 razor. Used it with the Personna Red Pack Blade that came with the Razor. Will try it with my usual Med Prep next time. I also plan to try the handle with my R41.
All in all, highly recommended and the service from Razorblades And More is always top notch.

I must say that I am disappointed with the blade alignment. It is not easy to get it to line up.

Contacted David and he is sending me a replacement head. That is excellent customer service.

Well, in a moment of weakness (or was it clarity) I just placed an order for one. Stock info indicated it was the second to last, so get one now if you are on the edge.
