I love Proraso. I have some Speick on the way. I love to use an aftershave with alcohol in it, but I find the ones that also contain witch hazel have that extra feel of healing. (I use a moisturizer after the splash anyway).

What after shave splashes are out there that contain both alcohol and some witch hazel?

Links to ingredient list sources also appreciated.

I'll get it started with Proraso Green.

Walmart, and chain drug stores should carry it. Very reasonably priced.

I think of Dickinson's more as just "witch hazel." It is unscented, and contains only the amount of alchohol that is contained in witch hazel itself.

I think we can stipulate that witch hazel itself can be used as an aftershave. I'm interest in aftershave splashes that contain witch hazel only as one ingredient among others, in an alcohol based aftershave. I'm starting to think that extra nice face feel of Proraso and others might be from including some witch hazel.

Ogallala Bay Rum Company has some excellent after shave with both witch hazel and alcohol.

Aubrey Organics does as well. I'm particularly fond of their woodsy scented one.

Captain's Choice contains both (and I'm working on a formula of my own, if you're interested in testing it).

I've been meaning to try that, but stayed away because bay rum is the "go to" signature scent for CC, and I don't like bay rum. Maybe I'll try some of the lime.

I like the RazoRock A/S Lotion (brown bottle w/atomizer)...I have it in the K. Louis Lavender scent, and it lists both grain alcohol and witch hazel amongst many other high quality ingredients.

+1. It's very underrated. I think it very closely performs with Krampert's, especially in the moisturizing dept.

Thayers witch hazel with alcohol is the first thing I splash on after I rinse the alum off. Highly recommend their products. They sell witch hazel with and without alcohol.

Do you prefer an aftershave that you have to pour into your hand and splash on, or spray it with an atomizer?

In terms of AS, I prefer a splash-on as opposed to atomizer spray-on.

Definitely Splash on, drip style...the atomizers aren't bad by any means, but they are a little inaccurate, usually some A/S ends up going on more places than just the shaved area of my face or even onto my shave items covering the counter...I now spray onto my hand and apply that way, works much better for me.

I prefer a pourable splash. I like to use a lot. Literally, splashing. It's another reason I like ones that are lightly scented with a vague, fresh scent. I don't want it to function like cologne.

I pour my favorite alcohol splash in the palm of my hand then add some dollar store witch hazel. I have been doing this for years with all of my after shaves. You get the added benefit of using witch hazel with all of the after shaves you may already have in your stash.
