Well, I will be watching the Green Bay, San Francisco game from the confines of my warm TV room. For the hardy (foolish) folks that will be attending this game, here are the wind chills you will be dealing with.

And if that's not bad enough, I don't plan on going outside on Monday either with these wind chills.

But don't worry all my friends in Texas. When the heat index this summer is 125F in Austin, I will be the one smiling.

Wow! I used to live in IL and remember those days, especially when I worked outside.

I will try not to complain when it dips into the teens here starting Sunday night. Dodgy we will still have single digit windchill.

The Governor of Minnesota has already canceled school for Monday. Why the school districts can't take care of that themselves, I have no idea, but with forecasted temps of -24°F in the morning it's the right call. I suspect Tuesday might be canceled or delayed as well.

I cannot believe I'm leaving incredible 70+ degree sunshine to fly to Buffalo on Tuesday, where the high is only supposed to be 9°F!

I don't miss it ...

... I grew up in Montreal and Ottawa, and it was often below 0F.

Ahhh, the good old days of living in Ontario!
I used to enjoy those temperatures for ONE day at the most, but I sure don't miss them! I much prefer the milder temperatures, here, in Vancouver, and, of course, the scenery! Biggrin

Sadly I have to go out at least 5 times on Monday. Not going to be a happy camper at all. Coldest readings here in 20+ years.

Good time to keep a small stream of water running through your faucet. Nothing like a frozen water supply to make a long winter longer.

I left a small stream going last night. I cannot recall the last time I have done that.

I'm not a football fan, but schools are all closed around here today. I woke up to -27 out with a wind chill of -64 out.

The hubby wasn't to pleased because it was his first day back to work after two weeks off for vacation time and holiday that everyone else in the company also got off. His vehicle wouldn't start. Mine barely started and only because we use synthetic oil it and it was plugged in. His doesn't have a block heater, but mine was plugged in all night.

But even more than that was the fact that the drivers tire was flat as a pancake. Only to have the hydraulic jack froze up solid. He had to bring it in the house and use my crafting heat gun to thaw it out. It gets hotter than a blow drier. So once he and the jack thawed out he brought the tire into the house to thaw out. At first he thought it broke the bead but didn't thank goodness. Otherwise he would have used an old "farmers trick" to get it back on without taking it to the shop. The tires are only a year old and sometimes this cold plays havoc on tires in the winter. So he just filled it back up with air and got on the road to work. I hope his day goes better than the morning did.

It's noon now and it's only warmed up to -17 with a wind chill of -43. Uggggg that's COLD!!!!

Our water service line is 8 feet blow grade, and comes up through the floor of the basement, so there's no risk of the pipes freezing unless the furnace goes out.

School has just been canceled for tomorrow. Kids are thrilled! This comes at the back end of their Christmas break. My daughter just figured out it's been 17 days since she was in school.

I was going to stay in today, but I decided this would be a good day to get my daughter's passport renewed. The lines should be short!
