I started shaving with a DE razor about 2 years ago. Like many I was always searching for what I felt was the ultimate set up. I think I have finally found what seems to be the best for me.
My Joris razor is aggressive but smooth with a Personna Lab blue in it. My Muhle Silvertip Fibre brush is super and MWF soap is hard to beat.
I hope this set up puts an end to all my acquisition disorders, at least for awhile anyway.

Biggrin (thumbsup emoticon goes here too)

I can't argue with your setup and won't since it's different for all of us, but good luck regarding it putting an end to AD. If that's what you want I hope it works for you.

I know that my ultimate setup changes as often as the weather. That very fact put an end to my AD. Once I had enough "different shaves" available to me, with each being as good as the next, I realized that my quest was over.

It's different for all of us. Glad you found yours.

Nice set up, and I hope it serves you well Smile

For me the ultimate set up would be to have such a wide range of razors, brushes and soaps I would always find something that suits my mood - the opposite ideal of what you got there Wink

Same razor and blade and brush and soap as you, what a coincidence :big grin:

All (but the soap) discovered in the last year, most of my other gear has left the house as this is as good as I found so far.

Very nice. BTW, is that a GTP G12 in the background? Good luck on the AD Wink. It can sneak up on you.

Take care,
Ed

Yes that is a Georgetown Pottery G12 in the background. I do understand that AD can be fun also. I was just driving myself nuts trying to decide what I liked best. It's probably an OCD thing since I do have OCD pretty bad.

I want to thank everyone for the nice compliments on my set up.
And to 'Snuff' who has the same set up, we must be on the right track. Ha! Ha!

I guess I should try a Joris Razor someday to get it out of my system. Every time I see a picture of one I have to take my meds.

MWF is hard to beat. Better to whip it up nicely, just like it looks in your photo... and yes, yours is a very nice setup!

That looks like a great set. I'm 3 months old to straight razor shaving and still have no real idea of what I will call a great setup. I still don't know why anyone would want more than one or two razors. I'm sure I'll get hooked by the bug though. A forum friend gave me a razor with no handle. I put a handle on it and honed it and it's working great. Just ordered a scuttle to be made. I'd hope I could ask "what is the best shaving setup?" here. But I'd get as many different answers as the number of answers.Rolleyes

BTW, what is the best straight razor, soap, scuttle, brush there is? Biggrin Just kidding. Wait? I forgot about the best stones and strop. Biggrin

I never thought I would buy as many razors as I did or brushes. I think the main reason is you read about them in the forums and wheels start to turn. I always tell myself, it's cheaper than most other hobbies.
