For soaps, I was contemplating using each one to completion but I don't think I'm ready to be that disciplined. Instead, I'm going to follow this routine:

I have a few more to add to the list but the gist of it is as follows:

1 week with each soap then rotate to the next one

Now onto brushes...

I'm not sure how I should rotate. I have around 11 brushes total and want to come up with a way of making sure each one is used.

My question to you is:

How insane am I?

I mean...

How do you rotate your brushes??

Thanks guys!

Bryan, that's way too regiment for me. I select which of my 20 brushes I'll use just before my pre-shave shower. It all depends on how I'm feeling at the moment, but I do make sure that each brush is used at least once a month. The only time I deviate from this is when I travel and when I receive a new brush. I like to use a new brush for at least a week, uninterrupted, so that I can judge its suitability.

Brushes are like soaps and have different characteristics. It can be beneficial to use the same brush regularly to get the most out of it just like happens when using the same soap for a week like you plan on. However, brushes should also dry. So maybe find a couple brushes that are similar and alternate using just those for a week or two and then find another set to alternate for a week or two. This way you can allow the brushes to dry in between use and still really get to know them and get the most out of them.

I tend to just go with what I feel like using but I have been finding a certain pattern emerging. Bottom line is to enjoy your shaves and the products you use in whatever way you deem most enjoyable.

I use 6 brushes, rarely the same brush 2 days consecutively, but whatever I feel like using on the morning.

I go for themes.

For the next 4 weeks or so it's 28mm +.

After that i may go either small brushes or what ever theme I can think of next!

Interesting feedback guys. Thank you.

Maybe keeping the spontaneity of brush choice is the way to go. I really love all of my brushes at the moment. Smile

I have about a dozen and currently have half in my medicine chest and half stored in boxes. I like to spontaneously pick between the 6 available and then at some point will switch batches.

That's a good idea. I could do a similar thing with my display case.

I've whittled my brush collection down to about 30, and I rotate them according to a written schedule, so each gets used about once a month.

I rotate all of my shaving equipment based on what I feel like using at that time. Schedules and sabbaticals are two things I do not participate in.

I use an old stamp pad holder. Every quarter I reload the stamp pad holder.
