Based on WegianWarrior's fun with Chemistry thread, I recently saw this post in one of my RSS feeds. Some crazy reactions.

While most of the 20 are interesting bordering on visually intriguing, I found the GIF on when snake venom meets blood quite startling.

I don't get it. Just some guy swirling around tomato juice. Big deal.

I do hope that was tongue in cheek.

No. However, I do apologize as I am not in the best of moods.

That is what it looks like. It's some sort of jerky constantly repeating loop with a guy swirling tomato juice, or some other red liquid. What's the big deal?

If the GIF loaded properly, it starts with a beaker of blood, a drop of snake (Viper) venom is dropped into the beaker, it is swirled around for a few seconds and then poured into a petrie dish. The blood comes out a a large lump and is no longer liquid.

There are a number of other great videos / motion GIFs on the first link.

The blood GIF didn't load properly for me.

But despite that, many years ago there was a Principal at my grade school who would demonstrate an ash volcano with a volcano cinder cone mock up and he'd burn Ammonium Dichromate from inside a can in the peak. It was quite spectacular.

My first job out of high school was at a factory that made sugar from Cane...We had a fire there and the Fire Dept would not put water on it because a sugar fire consumes water as an accellerant, so instead they shot sand into the flames and eventually put it out...

Fire and Sugar make an evergrowing carbon ash reminiscent of the small firework snakes sold at 4th of July...imagine a GIANT snake coming out of the combining tower...it was other-worldly, and a little Monty Python....Pun intended!!
