There is an old barbershop, in the heart of the historic zone in Lisbon that is very well worth visiting.

Established in 1886, by José Augusto Campos, it is considered, for many, the oldest barbershop in Europe - T&H in London is older, I know, but their location has changed along the years, and it is not on their original place in Old Bond St, (they have relocated to St. james St.)

So, we can say that this is one of the oldest barbershops in Europe, perhaps the oldest always operating in the same original location. All the environment is very well preserved - truly a living museum, when you can walk in, cut you hair and get an old-style face or head shave.

Here I present some photos - I really hope you like them. All credits for the photos go to this blog.

Heh, I walked by there when I went to Lisboa in 2010! I had no idea it was that old! That was before I started shaving, properly, and didn't even pay it any attention! Blush

Life would be oh so good if I had that within walking distance from home. It would even be worth a long drive. It would be my second home I'm sure.

It's a great place and very reasonable. I make a point of going there whenever I'm i Lisbon. They sell Antigo Barbería products as well. It is in the Chiadol, at the top of the Rua Garrett. While there check out the Café Brasileira and Cafe Bertran, as well as The nearby store "A Vida Portuguesa," which carries a wide selection of Musgo Real, Semogue and other traditional Portuguese products.
