This might be interesting for someone. I ditched the carts and picked up a Merkur 34c plus brush at Christmas 2011. Since then I've splurged and purged - meaning my 'nook' is in constant flux. In January 2014 I decided to photograph my collection to see how it changes over time.

Scroll down for updates!

Lucy - if ever you see this, the combined value is around £30 and, no, we still can't afford that holiday to Mauritius.

Looking good! Is your storage a wine box as suggested above?

Indeed it is. It's a cheap wine box, lined with cheap purple felt, that used to hold cheap wine that had no right to have been presented in a presentation case. Cheap plonk that would've been at home in a plastic bag!

I find it quite a good solution; it keeps everything together fairly presentably as I can't keep it all in the bathroom. Considering that most of the houses I've lived in have had such poor ventilation, I wouldn't if I could. Everything's kept in a wardrobe with any out-of-rotation consumables in a large airtight Tupperware container with a load of silica gel sachets chucked in.

Very nice collection of goodies and I like the way you have it stored. To bad you had to drink all that wine to get that lovely case. Wink

A year on from the OP and this is the current set-up. I haven't touched any other razor in my collection since I received the Mongoose. At some point, I'll bring them out again - they're all too good to not use - but for the time being I've gone minimal!

I'm travelling less frequently but I now shave at the gym once or twice a week - hence a dedicated gym kit that lives in my locker.

Home:

Mongoose & UFO Kaiser Short
Thäter 4125/1 2-band silvertip
Martin de Candre, Scented
Wickham Super Smooth, English Rose
Myrsol Agua Balsamica
Unrefined shea butter

Travel:

Gillette Mach3 and Bic 1 Sensitives
Whipped Dog silvertip (drilled to 20/48mm)
Speick shaving stick
No7 Replenishing Post Shave Balm
5ml spray of whatever I have going

Gym:

Gillette Sensor
Aesop shaving serum
Mennen Skin Bracer

In storage:

Feather AC RG (fixed)
Feather AC SS (fixed)
Gillette Aristocrat #15
Gillette Aristocrat #16
Gillette Aristocrat #21
Gillette Aristocrat #22
Gillette Aristocrat Junior
Gillette NEW (UK)
Gillette Tech (UK)
Institut Karité soap
L'Occitane Cade cream
La Toja, LEA, Palmolive sticks

Plus over a thousand modern SE, DE, and cartridge blades as well as a few packs of Bic 1 Sensitives.

---

The only acquisitions I have planned for this year are: Feather Professional Super blades, an aftershave lotion (Proraso?) when the Myrsol finishes up, and one or two fragrances - likely to be Guerlain Vetiver and Acqua di Parma Colonia. Of course, if something interesting arrives on the market - e.g. a Mongoose OC baseplate - I'll give that as go as well.

Here's to another year!
