How many of you have experience with this blade in their Cobras? A search only turned up a couple mentions.

I installed my first blade 4 shaves ago, and still do not get a smooth shave from them.
They are sharp as I get a great shave but it is rough going getting there even if I pay extra special attention in my lather building.

Tonight I changed blades mid shave and the 2nd one is no better.

Anyone have good luck with these?

During the cobra pass around I found the Kai mild to be less smooth than the feather as well, so I guess my blade choices are just one!

I haven't tried the Kai Sharp.

I love the Kai Mild and find them more comfortable than the Feather Pro (for me in my Cobra).

Recently I've had a few less than perfect SE blades, but I think they were all Feather Pros...

I prefer the Feather Pro to the Kai Captain Mild, and have not tried the others.

The Kai blades are not as sharp or smooth for me, although they are somewhat more forgiving in terms of skin irritation. YMMV I guess.

There was a poll regarding this a little while ago : here

In that poll I voted for the Feather Pro Guard, but that was with the Feather AC (and not the Cobra).

I have the Kai Guards, but I haven't tried them yet...

I have not tried the Feather pro guard or the super pro, maybe there is more for me to try.

I don't believe these particular blades will work with the Cobra Classic, i.e. they won't fit properly into the blade holder part of the razor.

They're well respected in terms of their intended purpose ... with the AC style straight razors ...

Although just a rumor, there has been talk of the Cobra 2 being designed to accommodate a broader spectrum of these Feather blade types.

I really don't think there is any need or advantage to use a Guard blade in the Cobra. The safety bar on the Cobra acts as a Guard. IMO they are only beneficial on the Feather Artist Club as those straight style razors obviously have no safety bar.

Also the Guards on the Guard blades make the blade less smooth and more irritating. Imagine a tiny cage on the dull half of the blade and that is your Guard. The reason why they are popular or useful, is not the quality of shave, but the extra confidence they afford. IMO they are just a stepping stone to a better shave and not a better blade in their own right...

In contrast to my assertion above that the Guard blades aren't necessary in the Cobra, Michael has a different view here.

In short, Michael found... "The Feather Pro Guard blade provided the most satisfying shave..." in the Cobra compared to the Kai Mild and Feather Pro.

As with all things, YMMV... Biggrin

I stand corrected then ... I didn't think the Guard blades were even compatible with the Cobra. Interesting.

Regardless, I do like the Feather Pros with the Cobra ...

Yeah, the feather pros work great. Not sure why I needed anything else except the AD and variety! Cool

When I was using the Cobra, I preferred the Feather Pros as I found them to be the sharpest and smoothest.
Best of luck, Mike. Smile

I have used the Kai Captain Sharps in my Cobra a few times. Each time I use them I can't believe I'm getting such a bad blade and bad shave. They are unpleasant to use. I would say they are unacceptable at any level. IMO.

That's interesting, my order of blades came in the blue pack 2nd from bottom, not the red one at the bottom.
The order specifically said ' Kai Captain Razor Sharp Blades No Guard '

The vendors' site is down until later today. I wonder if I got the wrong blades?

Does anyone who has used Kai Sharp, are they in a red packaging as indicated above?

I was assured by the vendor (he checked with the manufacturer) that this is the Kai Sharp that is shipped to the US

And this packaging is for elsewhere.

Curious to know what packaging others who have tried these blades have.

Captain Titan Mild blades seem to be the best, in my experiences. (They better be, because I have a rather large quantity on hand, just in case.Smile)

My understanding is that this blade has been discontinued (at least that is what the distributor is telling me). <sigh>

The Kai Captain Sharp are my favorite SE blade by far. I hope these are not being discontinued.

I think it is past tense according to the distributor. If you can find them somewhere, stock up.
