I am sure some of you fine people have tried numerous blades, possibly too many to count, but how many do you think you have tried? And how many before you found the Blade.

7 for both.

Let's see 10 fingers, 10 toes. So around 15 or more. I find that the blades almost match to certain razors for me. Never had good luck with SI's, now 2 shaves into a slant and they're wonderful

Well over 30. edit: Whoops! I forgot the vintage blades I tried. It's got to be over 40 with those.

One of the keepers was found with test blade #2. The rest were found now and again throughout the test bunch. But once I realized what I liked and what other folks wrote about the blades I was about to test I realized that what I experienced pretty much matched their experience. That allowed me to seleect a previously untested blade and pretty much grab a winner every time.

Out of those 30+ blades I found maybe 8 that made the grade for me.

The testing took me over 1 1/2 years and toward the end of that time I just wanted it to end so that I could stop testing lousy blades and settle in with the good ones. I was burnt out.

The vintage blades? Not a dog in the bunch but some were better than others.

I kept a little text file with notes when I was trying out different blades so I would remember what I liked or not.

I think it'd be interesting if everyone who said their number also included their one very favorite.

I would find that impossible to do. Maybe others could do it.

For me a blade muse be sharp, smooth, and give at least 7 great shaves. I could give a list of the winners (I never compiled it before, I just check the data to see if it passes when I see something that grabs my interest on the b/s/t.). But pick one best? I simply can't do it. For me it would be interesting to see if the # of blades on the list matches the number I guessed at.

Edit: Just off the top of my head, DE: Med Preps, Gillette 7 O'clock yellow, any SuperMax , any Iridium, there are more but I can't remember them. SE: GEM SS ptfe coated are , for me, the best SE blade by far. The carbon steel blades have one advantage over the SS blades. They are more useable straight out of the packaging. The SS version requires a break in period of 3-4 shaves in a mild razor. It's not a big deal.

7 shaves would be great. My beard is like a brillo pad though.

I'm not completely sure of an exact total number, but here's 32 diff. bldes that I have on hand now. Even the ones i sealed packs I've finished other packs of, and in the case of Merkurs i mistakingly bought againHuh ...I can think of five others I've tried, but I used or gave the packs up and never bought more. I have multiple packs of some of my faves that are pictured, and a few full displays or (100 blades), these are Polsilver Iridiums, G.Silv.Blues and Personna Med Preps.
I have one or two favorite blades for each razor I own.
These are basically Personna Med's, either brand Iridiums, Kai's, Gillette Silv.Blues & Plat. Blacks and a couple others.

Probably 15 or more blades over the last four years. Personally, I like trying various blades.

I've tried about 30 or 40 between current, in-production blades and vintage. I am currently awaiting delivery of another dispenser of Personna 74s which, to me, are light years ahead of anything else in performance. But like I said, I have way more blades on my "like" list than my "don't like" one.

I have probably used about 10 or 15 blades. My favourite by far is the astra blade. Wilkinson blades follow up second

5 different brands: Astra SP, Feather, Persona Hospital Use, Treet Carbon (SE), GEM Stainless Steel (SE). Persona Hospital Use and GEM Stainless (SE) are the winners.

I've tried about 10. With only 2 exceptions which I can't even recall, they all work well for me. Bolzano works best so far, but I have quite a few Derby and Astra blades and no need to buy more and no interest in trying new ones at this time, maybe when I work my stash down..

With a Progress razor, an EJ DE89 and Weber PH: Gillette Silver Blue, Perma-Sharp, Polsilver/Iridium, Astra SP. Personna HU still to come. So far, the Progress/Astra combo is tops (and the EJ and Weber are gone).
