I recently tried a walbusch style Bakelite slant that u found very mild and liked. Anyone know of a slant I can buy that is about as mild? I enjoyed the shave but that Bakelite is only a loaner so I need to find my own slant. Are the merkur slants overly aggressive or are they on the ballpark if the Bakelite? Thanks for your input.

I've never used a bakelite slant. However, I used to own a 37c and found it very mild.

The iKon slant is mild to the point of uselessness. It does look good, though. Biggrin

EDIT: That's a facetious statement, of course, but I did find the iKon slant to not be more efficient than a Tech.......and the Tech is a bit cheaper (by about 10 times, or so).

Mike, I used a 39C slant for a while before switching to straights, and have to say that I did not find it aggressive at all. I currently have a vintage Bakelite slant and have no hesitation in recommending a 37 or 39C as an addition. Same head, just different length handles.

Another vote for the Merkur slants. They're efficient, but not that aggressive.

Interesting, I never realized a Slant could be considered "mild"

I went from a 34C to the 37C and it really improved my shave - closer, smoother and more comfortable. My advice if you do get a slant is to go back to the drawing board on blades. It took me a while to settle on Kai which work best for me. YMMV holds true.

I do like the 37C and 39C, but why not stay with the bakelite slants, and give the Merkel a try? Wink
