Just saw regularfella's review of a bunch of them and and wondering what is good. I'm 45, a full head of hair that can get curly , but I try to manage that part. I dont want a lot of shine, but good hold. Its a bit longer now, 2-3 inches on top, but I'm about to take it down a bit, so I'd like to avoid it being too crunchy.
Any suggestions out there?

Murray's Superior pomade is all I use.

It has a very strong hold, but if you use a lot it can be a pain to wash out.

Oh yeah, and it's modestly priced.

I DON'T have a full-head of hair and haven't tried this, yet, but I would recommend unrefined shea butter or pure Lanolin if you are concerned about the damage to your hair from commercial pomades.
Best of luck. Smile

I just used a wax that I dug out from my bathroom cabinet by short sexy hair. Nice hold a bit heavy on the shine. This may work better after I get my hair cut m

Woody's Web ...

I've been using this stuff for about 4 years now. Fairly good hold, with no shine, greasiness, or 'crunch'.

BTW, my hair is thick and prone to curling when longer ... I'm thinning though, so soon enough I may be looking into head shaving gear ... Tongue

Update on the SSH wax. I think there is a reason it was under my sink. completely the wrong product for my hair length now. Didn't think I'd get it out this morning. The Old Spice pomade is nice. Can't wait for the Woody's to arrive tomorrow

Three Flowers either in liquid or pomade form is pretty good. Only ingredients is mineral oil and fragrance. A little goes a long way.

Got the Woody's in and used it this morning. I think this is exactly what I need. Goes on w a dry look. My hair is way too long now and it tamed it. Obviously a first pass impression, but it looks promising so far. Thanks for the recommend @agravic !

Woody's day two. Got a haircut yesterday. I have to say this stuff works great. Nice hold. Hair looks dry not oily or shiny. Didn't even use that much. A winner in my book!

Glad that's working for you Suggy!

I just ordered some Woody's Web myself as I'm scraping the bottom of my American Crew molding clay container. Thanks for the suggestion Ravi, I'm looking forward to trying it!

Hope you like it!

I switched over from American Crew products to the Woody's Web, at the suggestion of my barber.

I received my Woody's Web order on Wednesday and I've used to for two days so far. This is an excellent product! Fits my needs perfectly.

Thanks for starting this thread Suggy!

And thanks again for the recommendation Ravi Smile

Give Uppercut a try. It's water based so you can wash it out easily but it has a really good hold that is not stiff.
