......'The Parlor' already has more posts than any other single sub-forum on 'The Nook'.

It's also rapidly approaching the point where it will have the most threads.

That's interesting, for a shaving forum.

A quick look shows that most of the posts are in the 'Parlor Games' segment, which is self-sustaining of course. However, that doesn't explain the number of threads.

-------------

I think this may be a good thing. It indicates (to me) that people are comfortable here, and while their main reason for joining TSN is the shaving stuff, they stick around because TSN is a nice place to hang out online.

It's the off topic, chatty stuff that makes it more personal and you get to know the others on a more personal level. It's an important part of any forum.

I think it just reflects the fact that many of us are here for the fellowship and camaraderie as much as for the shaving information.

This is the essence of what makes a forum special ... the camaraderie.

Although I suspect that there are more on-topic than off-topic threads on the forum in total... but the on-topic ones are spread over so many sub-forums.

The 'nook wouldn't have kept my interest if it was just the facts... it's the fellowship with fellow shavers that makes the 'nook a one-of-a-kind place IMHO.

I think it is great that we talk and joke about things other then shaving. Makes the forum more balnced and friendly.

I have learned so many interesting things here at The Shave Nook that include but go way beyond shaving. I have been introduced to some wonderful brushes, creams, soaps, EdTs, etc.

However, my insight into both coffee and tea has been expanded tremendously, not to mention all things fountain pen related. Also, the Faces to Names thread has made the entire site that much more personal.

Always, though, there is shaving and general grooming. The questions and answers, the reviews, the recommendations, the artisans and vendors all make TSN worth coming to on a daily basis. Smile

TSN has a great group of members who have plenty of humor, knowledge, and life experiences to share. I feel like I "know" people here, even though we have never actually met. TSN has evolved beyond "what I shaved with today" and that's a GOOD thing. The Parlor threads add a real and personal facet to the site.

I'm off to shower, shave, put on some smell pretty, and drive to town in the snow. It's another LAVENDER day!
