I am embarrassed and I must ask this. Please tell me the poor guys are consumed and not just killed for their pelts. That would soften the blow if I decide to get another Badger brush.

If you read Mark Watterson's recent interview, you would have read that the badger is, indeed, consumed in China.

And, according to my father-in-law, extremely hard to kill... They don't die easily!

* They are, however, incorporated with merino-wool to make fantastic bike jerseys and clothing in New Zealand! Biggrin

Badgers are - in my experience - foul tempered son-of-b*****s twho will happily maul your dog, scare the life out of your cat and merrily sink their teeth into your shin until they meet...

ie; no worse or better than any other small predator - just less afraid of humans.

i don't consider any group of animals nasty. if there are enough individuals in a group of whatever animal i see no problem to take out some of them - if it is useful. and i think it especially legitimate to use badgers to make brushes - if they are plenty. how you take them out is another matter.

if someone don't want to kill anything but plants - and don't want to control any kind of animal - fine - but it will become a very difficult lifestyle indeed. very.
