Did my first DE shave this morning. I think I did pretty good. One little weeper. I used a Merkur 23c, an Astra Blade and Prorosa green cream. Then went with Prorosa green post cream. Oh I did two WTG passes. Not BBS but definitely better then fusion.

I can echo that. I used to use the Fusion Proglide. I got tired of paying over $30 for 8 cartridges. In the long run, As long as you keep those ADs in check, You will save some money.

On the other hand AD is part of the fun of wet shaving. Anticipation of a new product's arrival makes everyday feel like your birthday.

Congrats on your first DE shave. 1 down, 10,000 to go.

I just did a rough calculation and I've had around 18,631 shaves.

Well done Sonny, you seem to have a nice set up there. You chose well, you can't go far wrong with Proraso products and Merkur razors, IMHO, my first DE razor was a 43C. If you like the menthol hit from Proraso, the green aftershave in that range is also excellent, and Myrsol Formula C is like Proraso green aftershave with violets, one of my favourites. Biggrin

Scott.

Whoa! Not so fast! Let's not jump to conclusions... Biggrin

Don't forget about Single Edge razors. Have you tried any of them yet? I ask, but at this time I'm tapped out and can't help with the experience.

In all honesty, do people find that they can get as close or closer with a cartridge razor? I only used them for a few days before discovering DE. I didn't learn that in my short time however from what I noticed, the mach 3 sure irritated me.

And good job on your first shave. As they say, they only get better from there.

Not only am I getting closer that canned goo that you would use with a cartridge is bad for your skin. Since I have been using the Prorosa shaving cream and my brush on my face people are noticing my skin is healthier.

The Weber is a nice razor ... a great value, IMO.

I don't know that you would necessarily need 2 of the same handle though. Any possibility to get one Classic and one Bulldog or Wave?
