So after making it through all of January on two Astray SP's. This month I'm trying to see how far I can go with Personna Blues. Going on my second shave of the month, not sure how these will go. Anyone familiar with the staying power of these?

You are a brave gent, I have to say.

You do know that blades are extremely cheap, right? Biggrin

Weellllll, I can't see me using any DE blade for more than 7 shaves and you're well beyond that.

Many factors are involved. From my vantage point I'm just watching. I know I can't get what you're getting from any DE blade.

I can't help but wonder how many shaves you'd get from a SE blade. I can get 20 before I begin getting bored and move on. Likely you'd get 2 months or more out of one.

I don't know I've never been fortunate enough to try an SE for a shave. Are they good?

A lot of people really prefer SE's from what I've heard/read! I'm not sure what it is that really separates them other than diff. shaped/style razors and of course one edge vs. two? I've never contemplated buying or trying an SE razor & SE blade cause I'm more than content in the DE world. YMMVLightbulb

Between forgetting how many times I've used a blade and my dislike for the idea of getting more irritation than my stubborn skin already gives me, I don't think I've used a blade more than 3-4 times yet. Maybe it's time I stick with a blade for a week until I feel what a spent blade actually feels like. Then again, why!? Biggrin

A few days in and this Personna Super Blue isn't too bad. I'm not sure how long this will last but so far weeper free.

Personna blues are very good and sharp but I wouldn't go past 6-7 shaves unless you only do one pass per shave.

You never know how many shaves a blade can give you until you try. I can't get 2 decent three pass shaves out of a Feather. I get four max out of my favorite ones, 7 O'Clock yellows and Silver Blues to name two. But I've gotten as many as 19 from a Lord Cool ( they start out not quite as sharp and smooth as my favorites but they just don't degrade ) and vintage Personna 74s are legendary. So don't think you're beard's too tough for more than three or four uses from a shiv before you give it a go. There are just too many other variables involved with them.

I think today was the last day for this particular Personna blade. I don't think I can squeeze another shave out of it. I'm going to throw a new blade in tomorrow to see the difference, but not sure if today's shave was bad blade or poor lather.

I use three different DE blades and get 7 shaves from each.

And I use one blade in my Feather AC-SS and also get 7 shaves from it.

I guess I should add that I do a two pass shave with touchups with all of these.

A couple of members have mentioned vintage Personna 74 blades. I assume those are no longer in production and hard to find as well as expensive?

Seven shaves from a Feather is interesting. I find I get three, maybe four before they wimp out and get all 'tears before bedtime'.

Wow, 12 shaves is impressive. I use Labs regularly in a variety of razors and love them. They are in my top three blades. Typically I get 4 shaves, sometimes 5. As explanation, I change the blade out when performance starts to drop. I seldom nick myself and I like to keep it that way.Biggrin

I put a new blade in on Sunday and use it through Friday. I don't shave Saturdays. I've been using Merkur blades and CVS brand (made in Israel).
