Congratulations on your first shave with the 37C.
The slants have a rather sinister reputation, which is somewhat exaggerated IMO.
Good luck with future shaves!

John-Welcome to the Slant club. I too have been using a 37C slant the last month, and it's been wonderful

Welcome to the world of Slants.. It's the road less traveled but oh so sweet!!!
I can do in 2 passes what regular DE razors do in 3 passes with touch-ups, with a Slant. I figure the less time the metal of the blade is on my face, the better it is for my face...YMMV

Sounds like you enjoyed it! I think a 37c will be my next razor purchase. I've been very curious about trying lots of different ends of the spectrum lately.

I couldn't stand it the first time I tried it a few years ago, but it's been great since I picked it up again. Congrats on the great shave.

The only thing I would add is a suggestion that a new slant user go through a blade sampler again to zero in on the best blade for you.

Quick slant usage question, and from your first experience. Do you use the same stroke as a regular razor? I believe I have read that you only want to use a shorter distance per stroke?

Basically yes, but really emphasize light pressure. It is especially recommended for coarse beards and sensitive skin but most guys really like it. I noticed a major improvement in smoothness, especially neck and chin, my former problem areas. Also, I can now achieve BBS in 2 passes.

Any time I've used a slant the result has not been pretty; a veritable bloodbath.

I, for one, find slants to be much less aggressive on my skin than OCs. Is this very strange? Biggrin

I am intrigued by the slant bar. It's on my way to an eventual cut throat razor...

I think about trying a. Slant every once in awhile. Now when I'm about ready to buy one none of NA dealers seem to have either a Merkur or iKon in stock!
