I just received a tin of Le Pere Lucien soap and I am giddy smelling this tin. This is one of the most unique smelling soaps I have come across. I'm not sure how it will translate to the lather, but the smell is just intoxicating to me. I'm getting a real earthiness and woodiness from it but what do I know? Wink

I probably won't be able to shave with it for two days, but just wanted to hear from those who have used it what to expect? If this performs as well as MDC as I have read, I can see this being my go to soap.

In my opinion, LPL is superior to MdC.YMMVBiggrin
Both soaps lather incredibly easily but the big letdown for me with MdC is post shave feel. Whereas that always left my skin feeling dry, LPL's post shave feel is superb.
Enjoy your first shave with this incredible soap.

I should receive a puck of LPL at a near future. Looking forward to try it, after so many good things that I've read about it.

Batter than MdC, David? Wow! Those are strong words, for sure! Smile

Looking forward to trying LPL, although my expectations are not that high, considering what I've read on french forums. We'll see! Wink

+1 @ LPL, I just can't compare to MdC as I haven't tried yet.

I agree with David's comments, the post shave is where it separates itself from MdC. Both lather almost on their own, but LPL Intense smells better IMO than the signature MdC and the after shave feel is second to none. I recently received a LPL shave stick from Cyril that absolutely blew me away, I couldn't find it on his website but I'm hoping that he brings it to market. It's an old school soap bar style to be kept on a dish, I'm hoping he brings one out in a twist tube as well for travel or for those of us that just like things in containers Tongue

I'm really excited. It's much softer than MDC.

Looking forward to compare it to other french artisan soaps, like MdC and Savon des Volcans.

Definitely Cedar. It was my initial impression. I know the ingredients contradict my description of it, but I definitely get Cedar. As far as earthy, it is nothing like a pure vetiver. I think I said "earthy" because to me it smells sort of "dark."

When I sniff MDC, I want to shave with an open window and the sun shining in. I've been sniffing LPL and I picture shaving with it by candlelight.

BTW, I sniffed it next to Mike's Pine and Cedarwood to confirm my thoughts and yes, they do smell quite similar with Mike's being more "Piney."
