I've been seeing a few of these and they look REALLY sharp. The handle and "top plate" are copper and the "bottom plate" is brass.

Are they just regular Techs that have been completely stripped of their plating, or are they actually supposed to look like that?

Yeah, those copper and brass razors originally had a gold wash applied, but the plating is so fragile and thin that they almost always look better stripped. The downside to the stripped plating is that copper and brass will both show oxidation and discoloration with regular usage so end up being higher maintenance when aesthetics are considered. I wonder if applying some kind of clear coat or lacquer to these stripped razors would hold up any better. Has anybody tried this?

coating/lacquering will not hold up for long. only real alternatives being replating or elbow greese.
