This is my new Jersusalem Olivewood handle with one of Larry's (Whipped Dog) synthetic knots. It is 24mmx58mm.

I am looking forward to using it.

I had my 1st shave with the WD Synthetic Brush. I decided to go with the La Toja cream. It was a great combination! The WD Synthetic face lathered like a champ. I just loaded the brush for about 5 seconds and had enough cream for a great 3-pass shave!

I think I am going to like this brush.

How would you compare this to the Muhle (if you own one)?

Would also like to hear how it does on soaps - the "v1" version of the latest Muhle fibre works OK on soaps, but that is certainly not its strong point.

I don't have one of the Muhle's to compare it with. Maybe GD or someone else can chime in.

I´m very interested in that knot and I would appreciate your comments about its softness and stiffness.Sherlock
My experience with the Mühle synthetic wasn´t as good as I had wanted but I´m decided to give another opportunity to that kind of fibres. Sisi1

I've used the Whipped Dog synthetic as well as many synths from other manufacturers. This includes all sizes of Muhle V1 and V2 brushes. The major difference I found is that the WD brush has a Generation 3 knot, and the latest Muhle knots are Generation 4.

That said, it is recognized among synthetic users that the generation designation does not tell the whole story. There are some great brushes from earlier generations and the generation designation alone does not tell the whole story.

I still count some Generation 3 and 3.5 brushes as among my favorites. They're like fine sports cars--the newest are not necessarily more desirable than classic models.

The Whipped Dog brush is one of the best examples I've found of a an excellent brush Gen 3 knots. Paired with a fine handle such as the OP's, it makes a truly excellent example of what synthetic brushes can be.

I already have a new generation Muhle synthetic by Rudy Vey and am more pleased with it than I expected. Now I'm trying to decide between a TGN and WD synthetic for another custom brush. The WD looks more like the Plisson than the TGN.

I wanted to try the brush using a puck today, so I pulled out the Tabac. After 3 shakes and loading on the puck for about 30-40 seconds, it gave up plenty of lather for a nice 3-pass shave. The tips are very soft and do a great job both swirling and painting.

I have had all three and I also think the WD is more like the Plisson than the TGN. Although the Plisson is way out front for the type of lathering I do. I like the WD but didn't care for the TGN. That said I didn't have a problem with the TGN and it worked fine. But for me the number one synthetic is the Plisson.
And I would also like to add that the Bethlehem Olive Wood Handle looks stunning with the WD knot. Very Nice.

Today, I tried the brush on the LA Shaving Soap in the jar. I just loaded it for about 30 seconds and started face lathering. It generated more than enough lather for a 3-pass shave. Tomorrow I will try it on a puck of Stirling.

Today, I tried the brush on Stirling Ozark Mountain. I just loaded it for about a minute and had enough loaded on the brush for a great 3-pass shave.

I just had my 5th shave with the WD Synthetic knot. I really like it. I have tried a different type of soap each day and it has done superbly with each one. I have face lathered each day. The brush loads easily, is surprisingly soft, and quickly works up a great lather. This knot is a keeper. I understand why Larry at Whipped Dog offers a refund if you try it and don't like it. I will be keeping mine, thank your very much!
