How'd I do? Brand new with 24 blades for $15 bucks. Has the HydroMagic lever.

Looking forward to taking it for a test run tomorrow. It even has the blank in the head

Chris; I have one coming. The cased razor is in it's red cardboard box; the $5 price tag is still in the case with instruction book! I paid VERY little more than you; the auction closed at 4 AM and I was the only bidder. I got tired jumping up and down and started a stopwatch. We should both do the Happy Happy Joy Joy dance!

Update. Got both razors today; 500 is slightly used but 100% otherwise. The K1 is excellent with slight plate loss on corners of guard bar. The J3 500 has no "close to change blades" on it's lever like the K1 does. The lever is shorter also, I have not seen this variation anywhere else. Does anyone know about this? I'm sorry I can't supply pics,

As I stated earlier it is one of my favorites. I prefer it over the I series.

Here is some good information on the Schick Injector Series that discusses the variations in more detail.

Thanks, GDC. I have looked at that extensively (both pages_ and can't find anything about lever variance on the J3. Also I have not been able to find a pic (I've looked a LOT)of a J3 500 with a short unmarked lever. This one has a recess under the tip in the plastic to put your thumbnail to pry the lever up.

Well here is a picture that shows a J3 with a shorter unmarked lever handle next to a J4 with a marked and longer lever handle.

I hope this fits the bill.

Some plate loss on my K1 and J3 marked long lever razors reveal the base metal is silver colored; magnet doesn't stick so it isn't steel. Does anybody know what kind of metal it is? My unmarked short lever J3 plating is 100%, so I can't see the base metal.

Okay, I may have answered my own question. My K1 had pitting on the back. I did extensive polishing by hand with Simichrome which turned it silver colored. The edges of the center shield started to show what looks like brass. Apparently the gold plating is over nickel plating on brass.
(Any corrections are invited.)
