Looking at purchasing a Simpsons Chubby 1 or 2 in Super Badger. I'm not sure which one to get? I love my duke 3 and Phl8. Im not really looking for bigger than a duke 2 as I tend to like a smaller brush for face lathering. I've heard that the handle on the Chubby 1 is a bit small and hard to hold. Only thing I have to compare is a Rooney 1/1. Any thoughts from people that have them would be appreciated. Please chime in!

Thanks
Carmine

Carmine, the Chubby 1 handle is 41mm in height, so it may be a tad small compared to your Duke 3. I found the Chubby 1 a bit small for me and when I first got larger brushes, I thought I was crazy and even more so when I got my Chubby 2 Super, but, now, I find it a fantastic brush and not large at all! It is a great face-lathering brush. The only drawback is that you will start to realize how small you other brushes are and you may need to replace them! Biggrin
Good luck deciding!

Between CH1 and CH2, I'd definitely go for the CH2.
To me, the handle is still a bit short, but then again, I'm mainly a bowl latherer.

I have both in 2-band and definitely prefer my chubby 2, however I like bigger brushes. As you mentioned, my only real complaint with the Chubby 1 is the handle...It's a bit too small, but it really is a great brush and I enjoy using it regularly.

My recommendation is for the chubby 2. Thumbsup

I used a chubby 2 for my morning shave and it never fails to provide me with a great face lathering experience.

I prefer the CH2 (or CH3).

IMO the wall of badger is best experienced in full.

However, if your preference is for small brushes, then the CH1 is still going to feel significantly bigger on the face compared to your D2...

CH 1 handle: 37 x 39mm and knot: 24 x 47mm (approx.)

D 2 handle: ? x 43mm and knot: 22 x 41mm (approx.)

I have multiples of both brushes. Initially, the CH1 handle felt small, but, after using it several times, I found that my comfort level had increased significantly.

Notwithstanding the above, of the two types, I prefer the CH2 because of the larger f̶o̶o̶t̶p̶r̶i̶n̶t̶ faceprint of the CH2.

I was looking into a CH2 and found this thread.
Has a lot of good info on many of the CH2 variants.

CH2 is perfect for me, not too big, not too small. Just started face lathering with it and fell in love with it.

I have the Chubby 1 & 2 in Super 3 band. Definitely go the CH2. I recommend looking at the Superior Shave so you can select your exact brush. Enjoy, it's an awesome brush.

Well, I'm in the minority here but I find the Chubby 2 to be too much brush, by a lot. I don't understand why there's such a big jump in size from the 1 to the 2. Seems like the logical next up from 23mm would be 25mm, but they obviously( from how well it sells ) know what they're doing. I like a little more control over where the brush/lather goes myself. Definitely a small to mid size brush man. If my hands ever get arthritic maybe bigger would be easier to hold but I don't see how smaller would be an issue when it comes to holding it. I face and bowl lather equally and the Rooney 1/1 is one of my favorites for face lathering but like most else in shaving, asking for other peoples preferences isn't of much use, and when there aren't any brick and mortar stores around ( most of us ) you have to take an educated shot in the dark.
