Over time I have gradually been upsizing in knot diameter... I started out with knots in the 20-22mm range and lately use mostly 24-26mm knots.

Hence, it was time to "upgrade" my Thäter brushes...

Below they are: Two beautiful Thäter 26mm (Size 2) brushes in Silvertip and 2 Band in white respectively black octo handle...

When cleaning and palm lathering I realized again how soft these brushes are... and how well made these knots are. Truly one of a kind... Biggrin

I actually like the new metal plate on the bottom...

Watch out BST - the smaller ones have to go soon... Cool

I have a Thater Silvertip, which is one of my favourite brushes. How does the 2-band knot compare with the Silvertip in terms of softness, density, backbone and flow through?

Not as cloud soft as the silvertip but still VERY soft tips. Probably the softest 2 Band in the market (equal to current Simpson and original Rooney Heritage 2 Band). More resilient, thicker hair. Hence more backbone and less dense (not much though). Typically better flow through.

Beautiful brushes. I am happy though to have picked up one of your smaller selections Smile I like the new coin on the bottom.

Thanks, that was what I was looking for. One further question, Fendrihans has Thater 2-band brushes and the disc on the bottom of the handle has "Silberspitze" written on it unlike the disc on your 2-band. Do you know what this means? I think it indicates a higher quality Silvertip badger.

I doubt there is a difference in hair... Silberspitze means Silvertip in German...

Georg, can you stick a magnet on the bottom of one of those new brushes and tell me if it sticks?

Beautiful brushes, Georg. I love the simplicity of the Thater octagonal handles.

That would be a neat trick. No more need for a brush holder, just stick it on the bottom of a metal shelf!

Great looking brushes. Those Thater knots always look like they're right up my alley. Do they ever offer them in different handles rather than the 8 sided handles?

The "Chubby" series (4125/49125) comes in the octo handles (black, white, plexi). Beyond there are other handle choices typically with less dense knots. Brushes may come as bulb (Thäter is more well known for the bulb) or fan knots. Check out the listings on straight razor designs or royal shave for options.

Lovely Thaeters.

I sold some of mine, kept the larger ones and only in 2-band and Bulb.

Thaeters are too soft and floppy for me in fan shape and 3-Band and knots smaller than 25 mm.

I'm just now learning about these brushes and am considering a plexi-handled (49125) 2-band bulb with 24mm knot. Do I stand pat with that or go up to 26mm to keep it firmed up a bit? I don't want to get too big since supposedly these come overstuffed, and the 22mm is too small.

I own both the 4125/2 2 and 3 bands. They've rocketed to the top of my list in no time. The perfect bushes IMO.
