Ended up buying this for $40 online just now thinking;
a) it just MAY be a Gillette double-ring, and/or
b) I don't have an old-style razor anyway..so let's take a gamble.

The ad didn't say much about the razor at all and as you can see it's pretty 'caked' in old goo.

The one thing that makes me sort of doubt that it's genuine (even though no such claim was made) is that the rings at the base of the razor seems to be a bit 'wider' than usual. Then again I am NOT an expert on these razors and just going of an old photo (the only one posted).

So I guess for $40 I either got a cool double-ring...or at least an Old Style razor to use.

Is there anyone who can tell for sure? Smile

Looks like a copy to me. The rings are not the right dimension for a double ring.

Sorry but I have to agree with the naysayers. Doesn't look much like a double ring to me.

Maybe it will be a good shaver.

Yes, it has been very well established it's not a real double-ring Smile

Don't despair! It's likely to be a pretty nice shaver and it's likely to be quite old anyway......even if it's not a Gillette.

Look up the instructions for restoring tarnished silver. Don't polish the razor if at all possible. It will be a nice looker when it's been cleaned up a bit, and I'll be surprised if it isn't a good shaver.

A few years ago, I bought a single-ring look alike. It wasn't a Gillette and nobody wanted it. It was a Leresche, which nobody had heard of at the time. Now they have a following and seem to be worth more than the corresponding Gillette. Trends change. That knock-off you have there could be worth more than a Double-Ring someday. Biggrin
