I have never had much luck with them, but they may work for you. Good luck. Smile

+1. They were the first DE blade I used, and I quickly moved on. Their only virtue for me was that they were cheap.

Hope you give them a try. Some like the Derbys. I found others I prefer but they may be perfect for you.

I have tried them in the early days but did not use them for more than a couple of shaves. They work well for some but not for me.

I like them in my Cadet OC razor, those seem to work better for me with milder blades.

I don't believe Derby is any worse, or better than an 'average' blade. If you have a heavy beard they probably won't work. If it's average, so is this blade. At $.08 US, they may work just fine for you. JMHO

I used Derby in the beginning, never thought they were bad just that I found better blades.

I used them several years ago. Compared to the Merkurs I had been using I thought they were great, then tried a a Feather and could never go back to using a Derby.

I have a heavy beard and only shave every 2-3 days, so the Derby's didn't work for me. Great price blade + irritation=bad shave IMO.

Derby? In my experience it's a good, but not spectacular, blade. A decent choice if no better blade is available

I have a few left. I too picked some up at Sallys. There are cool, but not the best by any means, to me. So far, I have only had one that was a horrible out of the ten pack.

Starting out is a double blind. We are learning the subtleties of angle, pressure etc while searching for
the particular combinations that work for us.
I was neutral about Derbies. But I found a packet recently
and used them. They weren't spectacular, but FAR BETTER than my early use. Sometimes it's worthwhile to go back and 'kick the tyres' a second time.

I like Derby's.They are my daily use blades.I prefer them to astra greens and in my book they are a hair better than sharks. That said there are better blades out there.

I haven't used the platinums, but I've been trying Extras for the first time this week. They weren't real good for me, but maybe they'd be OK for someone with a lighter beard.

Maybe the platinums are better. The Sally near me has a DE blades selection that's limited to Derby Extras and Feathers.

Edit: Looks like the regular green-boxed Extras have platinum-coated edges, so maybe we're talking about the same thing...

I got my first "perfect" DE shave, full face, BBS, no irritation, with a Derby blade in a 50s SuperSpeed. Just somehow it all came together that evening.

I prefer some others, now.

I resurrected my Derby blades this week and found them to be lacking in sharpness and actually quite rough.

I don't think I'll be revisiting these blades.
