I've recently bought a few items to try out as I'm fairly new. Two of these item don't get on well. After my shave I cold water rinse and apply alum. Let it dry and rinse of, but when I come to apply proraso pre and post sensitive cream. It seems not absorb properly and goes bitty.

Can anyone help with a reason for this? Should I leave out the alum?

Thanks?

I've had a similar experience. Most ASBs don't absorb as well post-alum for me.

You could either leave out the alum or get a better moisturizer.
Good luck.

Wanted to add: Celestino turned me on to Shea Butter as ASB - which works well even post-alum.

IMO - Alum tends to make skin dry and unless you have very oily skin - best to use sparingly in the winter.

Good to know. Any specific type of Shea butter? Straight? Or anything that has it in it?

Thanks

You can use it straight or mix with some grapeseed/almond oil to make it more spreadable. There is a detailed discussion in the AS forum on Shea Butter (Celestino is the OP)

Proraso pre shave cream isn't formulated to be a post; far to thick and heavy and doesn't absorb (no designed to). Their balm formula is designed for after the shave.
