My self-imposed buying hiatus is going quite well I feel.  However, when it comes to vintage Chubby 2s I just can't stop myself.  This Best Badger version ended up being NOS, as evident by the initial shedding of several short hairs during the preliminary cleansing.  The tips aren't as soft as I expected, but considering I have only used it twice it may soften up a bit yet.  The bloom on this brush is particularly large, something that my other Chubbies don't exhibit.  I am indeed pleased with my purchase and am happy to add this one to the collection.

A Mini Plissi Plexi:

Although I generally prefer brushes with knots in the 24-28mm range, this little guy just had to be mine.  The 17mm knot and 46mm loft confirm that this is indeed a rare Size 6.  The white colored knot socket indicate a European White composition, but it truly matches my vintage High Mountain White knots in feel.  Here it is next to my other Plex handled Plisson in Size 14 HMW for comparison:

Simpson Chubby 3 Best Badger for Cooper Chemist of London

[Image: sHrMDC4.jpg][Image: r1qz797.jpg][Image: Jb6XdGF.jpg][Image: wdKLmhj.jpg]

Another stray Chubby has been rescued.  This one was made for the London pharmacy Cooper Chemist, a company with a very long history.  The brush is larger than I normally prefer, but the knot is absolutely magical with tips as soft as my best 2-bands, the tips even get a little crispy after drying.

Another fine knot on this old Keyhole:

I haven't had a chance to use this brush, let alone get it cleaned up, but the fineness of the hair in this knot has me very excited.

Not your father's Chubby 2:

This brush is quite the enigma, bearing the Chubby 2 name on the box, but looking more like the offspring of a Chubby and Beaufort.  I will likely go in depth on this brush in it's own thread as it is definitely unique and intriguing considering the one-off design and the historic company it was made for.

That is a unique Chubby. It might be my eyes but the top section past the ring looks taller than usual. It looks like an amalgamation of the Beaufort and an older Simpson at the top, but I can't find the image.

I no longer own any Beauforts as I'm not a fan of Pure Badger brushes in general, but I did take a group shot of my Chubbys to help show the not so subtle differences.

It definitely stands out! Great purchase!

Edit: I just found the brush that I was reminded of for the top section. Trying to find some pictures of some brushes that I have for an idea that just struck me and lo and behold, I found the other one that came to mind earlier yesterday.

This is a picture of ssultan's brush that I saved. Thankfully it was one of the brushes I realized I should add who I saw the brush from for referencing later. This is a bit taller it looks like, but funny how this one compares to a Chubby 1 as well!
