I just finished another series of 4 shaves with the Russian Gillette 7 O’Clock Green Super Stainless blade. All four shaves were excellent: smooth, close, and nick free. I think the poor Russian Greenie is a much under appreciated blade. They tend to take a back seat head to head with the Russian Yellows and Indian Green Permasharps and Indian Blacks. They cost a few pennies more than the Yellows, about the same as the Indian Greens, and less than the Blacks . Still, at about $20/100 shipped, they are a very good blade. I keep some on hand...I enjoy a little variety as long as the quality is there.

As always……YMMV.

I have a few packs of greens around too, as they are a nice change on the occasion. I feel the older Russian Super Stainless greens are a bit sharper than the Indian PermaSharp greens for whatever it's worth.

This is one of the few Gillette blades I haven't tried. Mainly because I haven't heard much about it. I may have to give it a try.

Me too, these and the yellows I'd love to try. Have to dwindle down some of my other blades first!

I remember when these first showed up on the market they were cheaper than the yellows - my how things change. Curious to hear more opinions comparing the two, if anyone has used both lately.

I get some great shaves from these, but at the cost of several weepers. Probably my technique at fault rather than the blade, but the blues and blacks don't give me that problem. The yellows dont' give me as many weepers, but it's they don't shave as close either.

I've never tried the Greens...the Yellows are a terrific blade.
Haven't tried the Blacks either.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of the 7 O'Clock variants.

I've used them both. Don't find a thing different about them. Both shave me close and clean.

You know OP your right. I still have about 15-20 of these blades left and and I may just break one out for today's shave. I was using and liking them but then I started using Personna Blue Labs and Personna Med Preps and honestly ever since I started using those 2 blades everything else has pretty much taken a back seat except the occasional feather thrown in there.
The 7 o'clock greens are an excellent blade, I agree.

I thought it important to mention that these "Green super Stainless" are no longer being produced in Russia, and now are called "Green Permasharps" and made in India. After comparing each for the past four shaves I can indeed notice a difference between the two, preferring the older "Super Stainless" version from Russia. They feel sharper, just as smooth and seem to allow me just a bit easier time achieving a true BBS shave compared to the newer "Permasharps". The newer "Permasharps" are still an above average blade in my book, but not in my top five.

The Russian 7 O'Clock Green Super Stainless blades are still readily available:

I also personally prefer them over the Indian version, YMMV.

If you buy these blades on Amazon you can get either the Indian variety or the Russian depending on the seller you pick. If it ships from India you will probably get Indian blades. I happen to like both but I may prefer the Russians just a bit.

If the Russian Greens dry up you might try the Silver Blues. To me they are as good or better, made in Russia and readily available. Just ordered 100 more today off the bay.

I pulled out another Gillette 7 O’Clock Green Super Stainless blade this week. I just finished my 5th close, smooth shave in my Slim set on “6”. For me, it is right up there with the Gillette Silver Blue (have 100+/-) and Gillette Platinum (have 50+/-).

As always, YMMV.

I am going to go ahead and order 100 this time: $20.69 shipped.

Yep, I like the Personna Med Preps (have 100 +/-), Polsilver SI’s, Perma-Sharp’s, Rapira Platinum Lux, Voskhod’s, Viking Sword’s, and Israeli Red Personna’s too. I like to have some variety. I don’t use any blade that I can’t get at least 4 great shaves from.

The Greens and Black Gillette's are the best blade you can get in India. Where i live, its a bit hard to find another very good blade which is close to the blacks in performance. It is known as Super-Max Platinum Plus.

As long as I've had them for some reason They, ( 7 O'Clock Greens)they never came up in rotation with my Gold Fat handled Tech.Shame! It might just be my particular razor with that particular blade at just the right time but it was like buttah! Three passes and a flawless, bloodless, WHISKERLESS face.
It will be written in the book of law. Magic happens when a Gillette Green is used in a Gold Fat Handled Tech. I couldn't keep my hands away from my face all day.
