So, I finally had the first shave with the 1912 EverReady razor:

First impression is that I LOVE the look of the razor and the handle, albeit being a tad short, does have some nice weight to it.

I also learnt that these ornate 1912 handles came in two sizes;

..and it appears I have the longer of the two.

Lathered up with my favorite soap these days - the 3P, popped in a brand new coated SS GEM blade and went to work...

The 3P provided its normal thick, protective layer so I felt pretty good about taking this new, to me, razor to my face.

First few strokes: VERY loud/audible.
Adjusted the angle to be a bit more shallow and it 'quieted down'.
The first pass - WTG - went very well, no nicks or anything. I did feel like I had to be a bit more aware of the angle than when I used the OCMM last week.

Did a second and last pass - ATG - on face and neck and it also went very well.
Easy to position the razor to get my troublespots and after the 2nd pass I had a very nice, clean shave.

Pros: I liked the razor a lot and got a great, close shave out of it.
Cons: I felt as if I constantly had to think about the angle and couldn't really have a completely relaxed shave - but I will take that down to it being new to me and will continue to use it for my next two shaves to see if it grows on me in the same was as the OCMM did.

Will it be in my regular rotation? I'm not 100% sure as yet. I will do the three shaves with it and then decide Smile

It's such a pretty razor Smile

Wow, that is indeed a very nice looking razor. I'm having a bit of trouble with a Parker travel, as I'm still getting used to the angles. The R89 by Muhle is very forgiving except on the neck.

This is one of my top razors. The 1912 always gives me a consistent close shave and with a nice feel. Keep on trying it and I imagine muscle memory will kick in and you won't find yourself thinking about angle anymore.

Three shaves in with it now...and it is really a great razor!
Dialing in the angle now takes no time and with a more relaxed shave comes a fantastic result.
Now on to trying out the next razor.... Smile
