Please educate me in writing paper in reasonable price and good black ink!

I was not keen to spend £30 for 100 sheets of paper Crown Mill.

Jack, I agree with Charles about Japanese paper. Much of it is superb for fountain pen use. Rhodia and Clairefontaine are wonderful. Basildon Bond, a British company, makes superb fountain pen friendly writing paper.

Do you have a Ryman stationer near you? They are usually found in shopping centres and I always go to one when I'm in Scotland. There you can find Oxford pads in various sizes. I get the lined paper ones and the writing experience is wonderful. Look for the 90gsm paper. Just as the label on the notebook states, both sides of the paper can be used without bleed through or ghosting. Here is a photo of the cover of one that I have and another photo showing writing samples. By the way, those writing samples have writing on the back of the paper, as well. I hope this helps.

Jack, for letter writing, definitely see if you can find a stationer that carries Basildon Bond paper and envelopes. Ryman might. Good luck with your search and let us know how it turns out. Smile

Basildon Bond comes in white, pale blue, and champagne. The champagne is the cream color you are looking for.
