Good morning all,

I tried to ID this razor using different sources but have been unable to figure it out. I don't know any of the markings on the razor.

What do you think?

Head geometry looks like a GEM 1912, but the handle don't look like my 1912 do.

If it's a razor someone is selling, I hope they take the blade out before shipping...

I've seen that handle style before, so it could be a complete GEM set.

That exact model is pictured on page Gem 8 of Waits Compendium. That handle was a new one to me also Hans and my first reaction was that it was a mismatch. That's why I had to check.

It appears to be a GEM '24 model. That would still make it "a 1912" since it's obviously part of that patent. There were lots of 1912s made over the various years. All considered 1912s.

I find the '24s to be possibly the best shaving of the 1912s and it's my favorite 1912. Unless it's a short head model, then it'll be extremely mild; too mild for me. There's only one way to tell and that's to have a '24 and a short head '24 side by side. Or shave with it. If it's extremely mild it's a short head.

BTW, just a short note regarding Waits Compendium. For those who don't know, it's an e-book that is downloaded. It's a fantastic work and you won't believe how much is in it. Just google it to find a site to get it. The cost is much less than it's worth. I think it's $15 and worth far more than that. I wouldn't be without it. It covers DE and SE razors, and some razor related items that aren't razors.

I will have to put Waits Compendium on my list of books to buy.

Shaved with a Gem Junior the other day ... it was a nice shave.

Shaved with a 1924 a week before that and I can say it is rougher. Well I think it is a 1924.

I can only answer with a question.

The files are in .pdf format. Can those devices access .pdfs? I have no idea.

So I figured this one out. I put the files into Evernote under a notebook, which makes it very easy to search.

On a full size computer I put a shortcut to the file "SRC_TOC.pdf" on the desktop. Name it whatever you wish. Just click on it to bring up the table of contents.

There is one bug... I think it's the Kampfe file. When one cursors to the top to click on the "Return to Contents" one gets an error message and no return. It's the only bug I've found in it. Tough I'm told there are some factual errors in it. Yup. Just tried it; it's the Kampfe section.
